A memorable vacation highlight
We did the 2 day hike which enabled us to experience both restored and original parts of the wall. The scenery is breath taking. Our guide on the first day, Devit, was very knowledgeable and friendly, and paced the hike well. The elevation and breezes blowing through the towers (at intervals along the way) provided some respite from the summer heat. It never felt crowded and we saw very few people on the 2nd day. The overnight accommodation was excellent and included a delicious dinner and breakfast. We were expertly guided the following day by the wife of the hosting couple. She's a lovely cheerful, positive and warm person, and we communicated well despite our language barrier. I picked up a few more Chinese words and expressions along the way. Overall, the organization and logistics management were excellent, and allowed us to relax and enjoy this unforgettable experience. The lunches provided were delicious with enough variety to meet varied dietary requirements. What a privilege to experience this feat of human ingenuity. I highly recommend this tour!!!

Farmhouse stay is not what you think
Hiking on the wall for two days was amazing. Views were spectacular and the guides (we had a different one for the each day) were kind and helpful. The surprise of the trip was the farmhouse stay - we were anticipating a quaint house in a small village learning about the culture and food. Instead we stayed in a large building that had at least 25 rooms, they were sterile and they felt more like a hospital room than a guest house. Plus, the location was inside the park, right near the front gates - so not in a small village at all. Definitely go to the wall and hike but be ready for a less impressive stay for the night.

One of the Best Adventures of Our Lives, Thanks to Louis
Louis was an absolutely amazing guide on the Great Wall of China, making the experience one of the best of our lives. He was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing fascinating stories and historical details that brought the Wall to life. His attention to detail and care for us two made the whole trip smooth and enjoyable. Camping was very cold, but thanks to his guidance, it was completely worth it and turned into a memorable adventure. The food at the farmhouse was exceptionally good, and the locals were so friendly, adding even more charm to the experience. Overall, Louis made the trip unforgettable, and we can’t recommend him and this tour highly enough!

Two days and one night from Jinshanling to Gubeiko
We booked 2 days and one night to hike the great wall from Jinshanling to Gubeiko, and we do not regret it! Our guide, Cheney, shared all of his knowledge about the Great Wall and Chinese history. We even learned a few Chinese sentences. Chángchéng hěn měi! It was memorable! The night in the guesthouse was great as well! The family that welcomed us was very nice, they cooked us amazing food and we had a good night sleep. I definitely recommend this tour with Cheney and the family in Gubeiko. We will come back with our family next time 😉

The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Beijing: 2-day Small Group Great Wall Hiking Gubeikou&Jinshanling: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Beijing.
How much does Beijing: 2-day Small Group Great Wall Hiking Gubeikou&Jinshanling cost?
+
Prices start at $268 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Beijing usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Beijing: 2-day Small Group Great Wall Hiking Gubeikou&Jinshanling take?
+
Plan for about 48 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Beijing is not rushed.
Is Beijing: 2-day Small Group Great Wall Hiking Gubeikou&Jinshanling worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 81 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 43 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Beijing, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Beijing: 2-day Small Group Great Wall Hiking Gubeikou&Jinshanling?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Beijing: 2-day Small Group Great Wall Hiking Gubeikou&Jinshanling suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 48-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Beijing: 2-day Small Group Great Wall Hiking Gubeikou&Jinshanling?
+
Around 15 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Beijing can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Beijing and add a light layer if any part of the 48-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Beijing: 2-day Small Group Great Wall Hiking Gubeikou&Jinshanling start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Beijing within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Beijing?
+
On Outty we rank every Beijing experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Mubus: Mutianyu Great Wall Bus Tour with Summer Palace Options, Beijing: Top 6 Highlights All Inclusive 2-Day Private Tour, Private Mutianyu Great Wall Trip With English-Speaking Driver. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Beijing?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Beijing?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
