The natural pool stop was definitely the highlight of the tour. The water was warm and shallow and everyone had a great time relaxing there

Viator contract’s “unforgettable tours” which you WANT to forget!

Words cannot even express how disappointing this excursion has been so far. First off, we were told to be ready at 7:30 We weren’t picked up until about 8:10 am Then the person who picked us up from our resort took us to a gas station to swap us to what seems to be an old children’s bus where two adults do not fit on the bench seating but are forced to because there’s no other option. From two people who have back problems and paid $90 US dollars each for an excursion that was painted to be a great experience with “everything” included it has not been up to par with other services I’ve booked with Viator. We were then taken to a souvenir shop instead of going to our excursion. I paid for a 6 hour experience and was told it would be a lot longer. Now I understand why. I wanted to be sure to make it back to our resort in time to shower get ready for our dinner reservations and that didn’t happen. Even who appears to be the guide (because he never introduced himself) just started driving away. Once we were close to the pit stop is when he said we can buy souvenirs at a stop and use the restroom for 10-15 min. I understand everyone wants to get paid with commissions and if we were at least comfortable in a nice air conditioned bus where our spines weren’t being compromised because of the seating area I would not complain. But if you could see photos to get an idea how uncomfortable this ride was you would be shocked. . We are in a tropical country where the AC is at a bare minimum. It was so hot in that bus and no one was offered any water. Never have I taken an excursion where all these unacceptable situations have happened. Not even if I paid $40. Nonetheless $90 that we both paid for this excursion. We are both highly disappointed with the quality of service you provided. I reached out to the point person of this excursion and he basically said that there’s no control over the vehicle that’s sent because we paid for a public excursion and not a private one. I’m sorry, but our bus was the worst one at that rest stop. Our legs and bottoms were out of the seating areas. The only people Comfortably sitting are those with a small Child next to them. I just can’t see myself ever spending $90 for something so uncomfortable. We are all sweating in here. So disappointed. Do NOT book this excursion unless you’re fine being uncomfortable for hours!

    Bad experience

Unfortunately, this experience did not meet our expectations. Our driver arrived approximately one hour late for pickup, and a significant portion of the day—around five hours—was spent waiting or transporting other guests between locations. The included refreshments were limited, and we did not receive any snacks. Alcoholic drink options appeared to be restricted to beer and local rum. One of the highlights we were looking forward to was seeing turtles at the natural park, but we were unable to spot any during our visit. By the time we arrived at Saona Island, much of the food had either gone cold or run out. Visitors should also be aware that there are a lot of insects on the island, so bringing insect repellent is highly recommended. Food and snacks available for purchase were quite expensive—for example, a family-sized bag of Lays crisps was being sold for USD $10. We found there was very little to do on the island itself, and guests were encouraged to remain within their designated area. The return speedboat journey to Bayahíbe was also uncomfortable, as I was completely drenched by the spray during the ride. Overall, the excursion involved a lot of waiting and travel time relative to the time spent enjoying the excursion. As a result we missed out on activities and food back at the all inclusive resort.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback. We sincerely apologize for the transportation delay caused by an unexpected vehicle breakdown. While getting wet during the speedboat ride is a normal part of this type of excursion due to sea conditions, we understand it may not be for everyone. We appreciate your comments and are always working to improve our guests’ experience.

Beautiful Saona Island: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Punta Cana.

How much does Beautiful Saona Island cost?

    +

Prices start at $60 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Punta Cana usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Beautiful Saona Island take?

    +

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Punta Cana is not rushed.

Is Beautiful Saona Island worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 14 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Punta Cana, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Beautiful Saona Island?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Beautiful Saona Island suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Beautiful Saona Island?

    +

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Punta Cana can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Punta Cana and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Beautiful Saona Island start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Punta Cana within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Punta Cana?

    +

On Outty we rank every Punta Cana experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Punta Cana Zipline - 8 lines and a suspenseful hanging bridge, Punta Cana Buggy or ATV Tour with Macao Beach, Cave and Tastings, Off Road Buggy Adventure. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Punta Cana?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Punta Cana?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
