Nice tour with Happy
Had a great time! The lead up to the cooking class with the boat was fun, and the rice grinding was nice and informative. Learned and ate a ton in the cooking class. I recommend!

Cooking school and bamboo basket boat in Bay Mau
This experience was so much fun. We were picked up at our hotel and taken to the market by Hon (our chef and tour guide). Once we'd gathered all we needed, we headed to the cooking school with a stop off to experience a ride in a traditional bamboo basket boat. That was so much fun, then off to the cooking school. We cooked a variety of traditional dishes led by Hon, who showed a huge amount of skill, humour, and patience with the group. We were dropped back at hotel at the end of the tour, very satisfied and armed with the knowledge of one or two beautiful Vietnamese dishes, to impress our friends when we return home.

Great cooking afternoon fun with paper lantern release to culminate our coconut boat ride!
We booked the afternoon tour and were picked up from our hotel and later joined others who were also joining the tour at the Central Market. Khai was our guide and tutor. We had an interesting time at the market being introduced to different herbs, noodles and sauces. Then we weee transported to the area where our class was to be held in an air conditioned van. Bottled water was provided. We walked a short way into the village area where our class was held. The setup was professional and clean. It was a large covered area with long tables where each person had a stove to themselves to cook on. We were given a short introduction to how to make rice milk and rice roll skins. Khai showed us how to cook 4 dishes, dish by dish, in between each we got to eat what we cooked! Each was delicious. Recipes were provided for us to take home. All ingredients were provided. We were served unlimited passion fruit juice. We got to wear an apron a top hat each too. We then joined the coconut boat ride which was lots of fun. Amazing to see the very skilled locals spinning their boats. We were given lighted paper lanterns to release in the river after that. All in all a satisfying day out with lots of fun. Would recommend !

Great fun, tasty healthy food.
Kieu provided us with a fabulous lesson in cooking delicious, traditional Vietnamese food. Her teaching was clear and she was easy to understand, friendly and helpful. We also love the coconut boat rides. My husband and daughter particularly enjoyed the spinning boats to the beat of Gangnam style! We've had a great time!

Why this scores 91
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Bay Mau Cooking Class with Market Tour and Basket Boat Ride: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Hoi An.
How much does Bay Mau Cooking Class with Market Tour and Basket Boat Ride cost?
+
Prices start at $22 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Hoi An usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Bay Mau Cooking Class with Market Tour and Basket Boat Ride take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Hoi An is not rushed.
Is Bay Mau Cooking Class with Market Tour and Basket Boat Ride worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 91 out of 100, which we label "90+ Club". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 206 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Hoi An, and how flexible the cancellation terms are. Scoring 90 or above puts it in the Outty 90+ Club, the top tier of everything we rank.
Can I cancel or reschedule Bay Mau Cooking Class with Market Tour and Basket Boat Ride?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Bay Mau Cooking Class with Market Tour and Basket Boat Ride suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Bay Mau Cooking Class with Market Tour and Basket Boat Ride?
+
Around 72 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hoi An can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hoi An and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Bay Mau Cooking Class with Market Tour and Basket Boat Ride start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Hoi An within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Hoi An?
+
On Outty we rank every Hoi An experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include HOI AN Hidden Gems in Rural Villages & River Islands PRIVATE TOUR, Coconut Jungle Eco & Hoi An City Tour With Boat Ride, Cooking Class Hoi An:Local Market, Basket Boat, Fishing & Cooking. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Hoi An?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Hoi An?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
