    Opt for the Presidential Tour

We opted for the Presidential tour, which visited the rooms where FDR stayed while on the ship. The tour was well worth the cost. Our guide, Rich, was interesting and knowledgeable about everything having to do with the history of the ship and history in general. Because our tour group was only two people, we spent more time than we would have otherwise and didn’t have time to visit the rest of the ship because of time constraints. Be sure to allow enough time. The parking lot is beyond confusing, with no directional signs in or out. It is made more confusing because cruise passengers use the lot to board the cruise ships so you have people milling about, with luggage, and no clue where they are going.

    Tour guide "Battleship Larry"

My husband and I took the Presidents Tour aboard the battleship USS Iowa BB61 on Sunday, July 6, 2025. We were privileged to have as our guide, "Battleship Larry" who was so knowledgeable and passionate about sharing the workings and stories of this impressive ship. We are both WWII babies and it was amazing to see the technology that went into this ship a generation ago.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for joining us on the Presidents Tour aboard the Battleship IOWA! We’re especially glad you had the opportunity to experience the ship with "Battleship Larry"—his passion and knowledge truly bring the history of USS IOWA to life. It’s incredibly meaningful to hear that, as WWII babies, you were able to connect with the ship and the era it represents. The technology and stories from that generation continue to inspire us all. We’re honored to have shared this experience with you and hope to welcome you back aboard again soon!

Short walk from the Cruise Ship terminal

We pre-booked the Presidents room tour and we were the only two participants. We received lots of information about the history of the ship and the presidential visits. Our guided was happy to answer questions about the ship and her sister ships. The Iowa and the Missouri are almost identical. The guide’s information saved us from making a trip to the Missouri in Hawaii.

Battleship IOWA Admission and Presidents Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Los Angeles.

How much does Battleship IOWA Admission and Presidents Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $48 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Los Angeles usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Battleship IOWA Admission and Presidents Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Los Angeles is not rushed.

Is Battleship IOWA Admission and Presidents Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Los Angeles, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Battleship IOWA Admission and Presidents Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Battleship IOWA Admission and Presidents Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Battleship IOWA Admission and Presidents Tour?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Los Angeles can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Los Angeles and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Battleship IOWA Admission and Presidents Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Los Angeles within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Los Angeles?

    +

Los Angeles rewards travellers who cluster their bookings by geography rather than by theme. Studio tours and Hollywood walks sit inland, the Malibu and Santa Monica coast runs west, and Griffith Observatory and the canyon hikes work best at dawn or dusk. We weight transport clarity in the ranking here: whether pickup is included changes an LA day more than the tour itself. On Outty we rank every Los Angeles experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Hollywood Sign 2.5-Hour Tour with Comedians and Their Dogs, Los Angeles Hollywood Sign Hike: Front, Behind, and Expert Guide, Griffith Observatory Hike: Guided Tour through Griffith Park. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Los Angeles?

    +

March to May and September to November, for clear air and open canyon roads. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Los Angeles?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.

What is included in Battleship IOWA Admission and Presidents Tour?

    +

Included: On-board WiFi; Admission fees; and On-board restrooms. Not included: Parking fees. Always check the voucher for the final list before you travel.

Where is the meeting point for Battleship IOWA Admission and Presidents Tour?

    +

Guests are welcomed on the main deck by an accredited guide, receive a brief safety orientation, and then begin the Presidential Tour. Hotel pickup is not included, so plan your own transport and arrive 15 minutes early.

What languages is Battleship IOWA Admission and Presidents Tour offered in?

    +

It runs in English. Pick your language when choosing a date and time, as not every departure runs in every language.

Will I get instant confirmation and a mobile ticket for Battleship IOWA Admission and Presidents Tour?

    +

Confirmation is sent by the operator after booking, usually within 48 hours; if it is not confirmed you are not charged. Mobile tickets are accepted, so you can show the voucher on your phone.

Is Battleship IOWA Admission and Presidents Tour wheelchair or stroller accessible?
