Creative Experience with beautiful results!
We had plenty of time to create our own plates, mugs, or whatever we wanted. The staff was very helpful, so the results turned out absolutely beautiful. Keep in mind that your pieces will shrink during glazing and firing, so make them a little bigger than you would normally want them to be. I can absolutely recommend this workshop! A big thank you to the whole team. (Just a small note: If you have back problems, this workshop might not be the best choice, as you’ll be sitting on very small stools for several hours.)

My first pottery experience
The forecast for Hanoi looked rainy and I was looking for something to do when I discovered this pottery class. It had very good reviews and I decided to book it. It was located on top of the ceramic store. I was met by my teacher Hang. I had never done pottery before and I was a bit insecure in the beginning with handling clay. But Hang was super nice and encouraging, helping me through every step. In the end, I created several pieces that actually looked like plates, cups and bowls, thanks to Hang. Apart from that, it was very nice to talk and to learn about the culture and life in Vietnam as well as in the Bat Trang pottery village. I would definitely recommend to book this class, you will get a great experience and a few ceramic pieces as memories:)
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful first pottery experience with us! We’re delighted that you found our class on a rainy day in Hanoi and enjoyed learning with Ms. Hang. It was a pleasure welcoming you to our studio, and we hope the piece you created will always remind you of your special time in Hanoi. We would love to welcome you back again someday!

Perfect way to spend hot or rainy afternoon in Hanoi
Excellent pottery class with clear instructions and advice and help when we moved to wheels thought had gone onto how to provide this class (provide flip flops so clay doesn’t get on shoes ) lots of fans ) seemed to be unlimited clay as we kept getting told try again or make something else ended with 12 good pieces between daughter and me so one piece is included and we brought 8 others as we so impressed with ourselves as the help given means you can try anything
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful 5-star review! We’re delighted that you enjoyed our pottery class in Hanoi Old Quarter and appreciated the clear instructions, helpful guidance, slippers, fans, and unlimited clay for practice. We want every guest to feel comfortable and have plenty of chances to try again at the pottery wheel. We hope you love your finished ceramic piece! When you return to Hanoi, we would be happy to welcome you back to explore our handmade Bát Tràng ceramics or join our Bát Tràng pottery village and factory tour. Warm wishes, Authentic Bát Tràng Team

Go for it!
Very positive experience, English-speaking guide was able to help us judge if the clay was too thick or too thin. All the pieces turned out great! 4 days turn-over time (Workshop on Thursday afternoon, collected on Sunday afternoon). Highly recommended to do this if time permits!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted that you enjoyed the pottery class and found our team helpful throughout the experience. It’s especially wonderful to hear that all your pieces turned out beautifully and were ready for collection as planned. Thank you for recommending us, and we hope to welcome you back to Authentic Bát Tràng again!

Why this scores 78
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Bat trang Pottery Class in Hanoi Old Quarter/Handmade experience: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Hanoi.
How much does Bat trang Pottery Class in Hanoi Old Quarter/Handmade experience cost?
+
Prices start at $38 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Hanoi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Bat trang Pottery Class in Hanoi Old Quarter/Handmade experience take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Hanoi is not rushed.
Is Bat trang Pottery Class in Hanoi Old Quarter/Handmade experience worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 78 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 290 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Hanoi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Bat trang Pottery Class in Hanoi Old Quarter/Handmade experience?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Bat trang Pottery Class in Hanoi Old Quarter/Handmade experience suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 5. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 3-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Bat trang Pottery Class in Hanoi Old Quarter/Handmade experience?
+
Around 102 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hanoi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hanoi and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Bat trang Pottery Class in Hanoi Old Quarter/Handmade experience start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Hanoi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Hanoi?
+
On Outty we rank every Hanoi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Ninh Binh Day Trip from Hanoi with Tam Coc or Trang An & Mua Cave, Ha Giang Loop Tour 4 Days 3 Nights with Ha Giang Vision Tour, Halong Bay Day Tour With Titop Island, Cave, Kayak & Lunch. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Hanoi?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Hanoi?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
