    ORTHODOX INFLUENCE ON RV

A magnificent cathedral, especially its crypt, very marked Orthodox. We have had the chance to witness a blessing of the faithful; whatever your religion, this place is to be visited and in addition it is possible to enter it for free, which is not the case with other churches in BARI, which pay, which should not be the case for any place of worship!

    visiting Sinterklaas

In this Basilica lie the remains (relics) of Saint Nicholas. Striking is the sober decoration of the interior, completely in the style of the good saint who cared more about caring. Don't forget to go "downstairs" as well, here liturgical meetings of the Greek Orthodox branch of Christianity often take place.

A beautiful cathedral with restrained decoration

The church , built after the Norman invasion of Bari, between the 11th and 12 Cenuries, to honour St Nicholas (and apparently to create a religious reason for people to visit Bari) features a crypt containing 65% of his bones (that's another story which your guide will be happy to explain) and a wonderfully-ornate gold ceiling.
