    Fun in a historic town

Alan was a fountain of historical knowledge. He gave us some insights into the history and culture of Barcelona that was easy and fun to assimilate. The spots he took us were fun to navigate and the food along the way was wonderful. Highly recommend Alan and the tour of the gothic old town area as well as the stops along the way.

Response from the operator: We’re so glad you enjoyed such a fun and insightful introduction to Barcelona’s history and culture! It’s wonderful to hear the stories, hidden corners, and delicious food stops brought the Gothic Quarter to life in such a memorable way — your recommendation truly means a lot to us.

    Poor experience on tour

It's taken a bit of time to get over my upset feelings about this tour to post something. I booked this tour for my husband who is a real foodie. Everything was fine up until the day before when our guide reached out stating that due to the time we booked most restaurants would be closed, and asked to meet us in town to change up plans- (which we were fine with and understood). Then he asked us if we'd like to do an extra stop and we agreed. We took a taxi to a restaurant where he was friends with the owner (we paid for the taxi) and proceeded to order multiple dishes of seafood from the menu though i told him I only eat shrimp. Our guide was quite rude to me when he found out that I would not eat any of the seafood dishes and blamed us for not saying something (though we had tried). We thought the point of this excursion was to visit multiple places, but he only took us to this one seafood restaurant. Even though food was part of the tour we ended up footing a good amount of additional money for one stop for food, not an additional stop (aside from the several we were expecting as part of the tour). My husband did say the food was excellent and he enjoyed it. The guide continued to act put out at me when I did not eat at the restaurant. When we left he also acted put out to have to take us around and took us on a brief rambling tour before both parties (most likely happily) agreed to part. I can honestly say this was the one low point to our entire trip to Spain. Please beware and set expectations early, I feel like we were scammed.

Response from the operator: Hello Jaime, We’re really glad to hear your husband enjoyed the food and that there were moments during the experience where the local cuisine stood out positively for him. We’re very sorry to hear that other parts of the experience didn’t feel as expected, especially around communication and dietary needs. Your feedback is truly appreciated and will be shared with our local team so we can improve how these details are handled going forward. We do hope we’ll have the opportunity to offer you a much smoother experience in the future. Best regards, Sheenah and the City Unscripted Team

    Great Fun!

Alan was very fun and personable. His knowledge and love of Barcelona and its food was evident from the start and we enjoyed our time on this tour very much!

Response from the operator: We’re so glad you had such a fun and enjoyable time exploring Barcelona! It’s wonderful to hear the passion for the city and its food came through — thank you for sharing this.

Fabulous food with a side of history!

Allen was an excellent tour guide on this Tappas adventure. The food he selected was delicious and truly things I would never have selected for myself. But even better than the food was his knowledge of the history of Barcelona and Spain. We so enjoyed the walk around the area and learned so much. The day ended perfectly with the best churro’s made fresh in front of us!

Response from the operator: We’re glad that the walk and the stories about Barcelona and Spain made the experience even more special. The day with freshly made churros sounds like the perfect finish! We truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and hope to welcome you back for another adventure in the future.

Barcelona Tapas Tour with a Local Foodie: Personalized & Private: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Barcelona.

How much does Barcelona Tapas Tour with a Local Foodie: Personalized & Private cost?

    +

Prices start at $35 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Barcelona usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Barcelona Tapas Tour with a Local Foodie: Personalized & Private take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Barcelona is not rushed.

Is Barcelona Tapas Tour with a Local Foodie: Personalized & Private worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 31 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Barcelona, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Barcelona Tapas Tour with a Local Foodie: Personalized & Private?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Barcelona Tapas Tour with a Local Foodie: Personalized & Private suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Barcelona Tapas Tour with a Local Foodie: Personalized & Private?

    +

Around 11 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Barcelona can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Barcelona and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Barcelona Tapas Tour with a Local Foodie: Personalized & Private start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Barcelona within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Barcelona?

    +

Barcelona's Gaudí sites are capacity-limited and the official timed tickets go first, so most of the market is resellers with a guide attached. We weight those heavily on whether the guide is an architecture specialist. Beyond Gaudí, the tapas crawls in Gràcia and the Montserrat day trips carry the highest rankings in the city. On Outty we rank every Barcelona experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Gràcia Tapas and Vermouth Crawl, Costa Brava Tour: Kayak, Snorkel & Cliff Jump from Barcelona, Costa Brava Tour: Kayak, Snorkel, Cliff Jump & lunch Small Group. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Barcelona?

    +

May, June, September and October. Sagrada Família light is best mid-morning. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Barcelona?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
