About this experience
Discover Spanish food & Barcelona history. As we venture through narrow back alleys & historic squares, we’ll learn about Barcelona from Roman times to the medieval golden era. With 3 stops in distinct restaurants we’ll also show you the broad variety of tapas! After meeting in the Roman heart of the city it is time to build up your appetite! We will start our history walk through the oldest part of Barcelona: the Gothic Quarter. Our first stop is a traditional pinchos bar: snacks connected by cocktail stick to a slice of bread. Afterwards we´ll pass through the medieval center: El Born. Learn about craftsmen & rich merchants of that time who left an impressive legacy with their palaces & the Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar. Our next tapas bar is known for its regionality - all the food comes from local fields & farms. We will try a variety of elaborated & high quality tapas. After a desert stop you´ll have seen the old town of the city while having tried out a range of local food.

Don't Miss This Tour!
Our guide, Christian, was prompt, knowledgable and had a wonderful personality. We were a group of 8 people and the tour became private. The food stops provided tastings of different types of foods and were of high quality and generous. We can't say enough about this wonderful tour! We decide to do a walking tour after our flight landed in the morning (so we could stay awake during the day and better adjust to the time difference). We knew we'd fall asleep on a bus tour and it was unlikely that our hotel rooms would be ready early. So, taking the walking tour at 1pm was great after our long flight and the food (and drinks) were more than enough for lunch. The tour ended at 4pm. We returned to our hotel, unpacked, had a very light dinner and went to sleep. Thanks so much Christian!
Response from the operator: Dear Julie, it was such a wonderful time together! Glad you enjoyed the food and also the walking park. It was a great pleasure sharing my passion for the beautiful old town of Barcelona with you as well as the different restaurants that I love a lot. All the best wishes, Christian

Best for solo travelers
This is my first time to do a guided tour with Airbnb and I am so happy that I tried something new. Unlike any other organized tours I did in the past, my time with Christian was informative, engaging, and heartwarming. I LOVED it. It was like spending quality time with a good friend who showed me around the town where you wouldn’t get to see on your own. He is genuine, knowledgeable, open-minded, and considerate. There were only four people in the group (excluding Christian) and our time was intimate. We stopped by a cute cafe for a drink in the middle of tour and the conversation was rich. From this experience, I even made new friends who I exchanged the contact info with. At the end, I was thinking this is why I like to travel!!!! Thank you, Christian!!!! It was the best ever!
Response from the operator: Thank you, Heeju, for your great review! This is the biggest compliment you could make me! THANK YOU. It was a great pleasure meeting you and showing you my personal Barcelona. I wish you all the best and maybe our paths will cross again one day. Christian

We will definately repeat!
Our experience with Christian was outstanding! His knowledge of Barcelona´s history was impressive and the way he explained us the secret spots was entertaning and very refreshing! Even though we have been to Barcelona a few times before, we still discovered new favourite places. The highlight was the food. Christian took us out to a couple of nice traditional restaurants with a pleasant ambience and provided us with explanations about the menu. Always considering our personal preferences. Overall this was a fantastic tour and I recommend it for visitors that appreciate an added value and personal touch on their tours. It´s very easy to connect with Christian. Thanks for this great day!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much, it was such a pleasure having you both on our tour! Glad you enjoyed the mix of history and food! All the best wishes, Christian

Why this scores 66
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Barcelona Historic Walking Tour and Food Experience: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Barcelona.
How much does Barcelona Historic Walking Tour and Food Experience cost?
+
Prices start at $105 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Barcelona usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Barcelona Historic Walking Tour and Food Experience take?
+
Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Barcelona is not rushed.
Is Barcelona Historic Walking Tour and Food Experience worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 18 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Barcelona, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Barcelona Historic Walking Tour and Food Experience?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Barcelona Historic Walking Tour and Food Experience suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Barcelona Historic Walking Tour and Food Experience?
+
Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Barcelona can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Barcelona and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Barcelona Historic Walking Tour and Food Experience start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Barcelona within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Barcelona?
+
Barcelona's Gaudí sites are capacity-limited and the official timed tickets go first, so most of the market is resellers with a guide attached. We weight those heavily on whether the guide is an architecture specialist. Beyond Gaudí, the tapas crawls in Gràcia and the Montserrat day trips carry the highest rankings in the city. On Outty we rank every Barcelona experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Gràcia Tapas and Vermouth Crawl, Costa Brava Tour: Kayak, Snorkel & Cliff Jump from Barcelona, Costa Brava Tour: Kayak, Snorkel, Cliff Jump & lunch Small Group. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Barcelona?
+
May, June, September and October. Sagrada Família light is best mid-morning. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Barcelona?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
