Not what we expected

We scheduled a tour," Barcelona Highlights Private Guided Tour" with an English-speaking guide to include Parc Motjuic. Casa Botlló, Casa Mila-La Pedraza, Passeig de Gracia and La Sageada Familia. We paid extra for a 90 minute private guided tour of the basilica. What we got was a non English speaking driver, who did a great job with the traffic who pointed to Casa Botlló and Casa Mila and say "Gaudí". We heard 2 days before our arrival that La Sagrada Familia was closed because the Pope was coming. My Viator contact who had not contacted me said when asked they only learned about it 2 days before. The Pope's visit was announced 3 months ago and his itinerary and closings were finalized May 6. We also met tourist who had had private tours of the basilica that same day. As a substitute we asked about a private tour of Park Güell. We were dropped off at the entrance and told in Spanish and sign language the guide was inside. Once in, the guide was a QR coded guide that yielded only a white screen on my phone. Our experience could have been done for a €50 taxi ride. Sadly, we are not likely to return to Barcelona again.

Response from the operator: As I informed you, we had your tickets reserved for the guided tour of the Sagrada Familia, but the provider notified us two days prior that they had to cancel all tours due to security measures related to the Pope's arrival. As we informed you, we made a change to Park Güell, which was not a guided tour, as we already mentioned. Unfortunately, the Pope's visit meant we had to take measures to adapt to the schedule and offer our service as best as possible within our means. In any case, we regret that your experience was not what you expected.

A fantastic day in Barcelona!

A fantastic day in Barcelona! We had a short time to visit the city as we finished our cruise in Barcelona and our flight was in the afternoon. Isaac, our guide, picked us up at the port on time. We visited the most famous places in Barcelona and finished at the airport on time after enjoying this beautiful city.

Girona is beautiful.

Girona is beautiful. We booked a tour to Girona because some friends had been to Barcelona a few years ago and recommended we visit this medieval city. We thoroughly enjoyed its history, its stone streets, and its ancient cathedral. We had a great time, and the tour was excellent.

Barcelona private tour

We did a private tour of Barcelona. Our driver/tour guide was Juan. He was on time and very knowledgeable and friendly. We only had about 3 hours before going to our cruise ship. He took us as close as he could to the church and we got out for a photo. Also both sides of the mountainside to see the city view. He was great and we felt safe with Juan. We highly recommend Juan and Viator is lucky to have him.

Barcelona Highlights Private Guided Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Barcelona.

How much does Barcelona Highlights Private Guided Tour cost?

+

Prices start at $420 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Barcelona usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Barcelona Highlights Private Guided Tour take?

+

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Barcelona is not rushed.

Is Barcelona Highlights Private Guided Tour worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 45 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.9/5 across 52 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Barcelona, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Barcelona Highlights Private Guided Tour?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Barcelona Highlights Private Guided Tour suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Barcelona Highlights Private Guided Tour?

+

Around 18 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Barcelona can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Barcelona and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Barcelona Highlights Private Guided Tour start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Barcelona within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Barcelona?

+

Barcelona's Gaudí sites are capacity-limited and the official timed tickets go first, so most of the market is resellers with a guide attached. We weight those heavily on whether the guide is an architecture specialist. Beyond Gaudí, the tapas crawls in Gràcia and the Montserrat day trips carry the highest rankings in the city. On Outty we rank every Barcelona experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Gràcia Tapas and Vermouth Crawl, Costa Brava Tour: Kayak, Snorkel & Cliff Jump from Barcelona, Costa Brava Tour: Kayak, Snorkel, Cliff Jump & lunch Small Group. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Barcelona?

+

May, June, September and October. Sagrada Família light is best mid-morning. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Barcelona?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
