We accidentally came across Tony’s office as we were walking around Hanoi. His office was close to our hotel near Haon Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter. I am so glad I stepped into his office because I’ve never met a more honest and professional person in the travel industry. After he booked our first excursion which was a 5 Star Ha Long Bay cruise, I started using him to book my flights, hotels and other tours. He is very attentive to all your needs and constantly checking up to see if everything is alright. If anyone ever visits Vietnam, please get hold of Tony and let him handle all your travel needs. You will not regret it! Erwin & Lucy Talavera from Las Vegas, NV USA

Do not travel with Asian Discovery Travel

I booked the tour on Viator as a solo trip for November 4.Usually after booking the tour operator contacts you to find out where you are staying in Hanoi so they could pick you up. Actually I had zero contact from the operator at all. I contacted them providing my hotel pick up details and also asked them where I would be staying for the overnight. They provided me with the name of a hotel in Ninh Binh and while reviews were mixed I was more concerned that there was nothing around the hotel. As a solo traveller I want to make sure I'm in a location where I can walk safely by myself. Once the tour started, some others asked about the tour arrangements they were put up in a nicer hotel in a tourist destination while I got stuck in the poorer hotel. This often happens with solo travellers in Vietnam. The tour operator sticks you in a worse hotel than the couples. At the end of the day I found out they were taking the other tour members who paid the same as I did other and better accommodation. I asked to be changed to it as well and the tour guide contacted Tony the tour operator at Asian tours. Tony asked to speak to me and proceeded to yell at me for 10 minutes. I refused to continue to be berated by him. At that point I asked for a refund of the remainder of the tour and that I would head back to Hanoi with the remainder of the group. I would NEVER travel with this group ever again. There are so many tour operators in Vietnam that treat their clients better than Tony did. It is just as easy to hire a driver and go to see the sights on your own. Viator should have vetted this group prior to accepting them as a tour operator.

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hanoi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hanoi and add a light layer if any part of the 48-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Hanoi?

    +

On Outty we rank every Hanoi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Ninh Binh Day Trip from Hanoi with Tam Coc or Trang An & Mua Cave, Ha Giang Loop Tour 4 Days 3 Nights with Ha Giang Vision Tour, Halong Bay Day Tour With Titop Island, Cave, Kayak & Lunch. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Hanoi?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Hanoi?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
