From the very first contact, Gede was attentive and solution-oriented, even when I mentioned I was traveling solo, he immediately found a way to make it work and tailor the experience just for me. We spent two full days exploring Bali by scooter, and the itinerary was built around a real conversation about what I wanted to experience. Gede listened carefully and delivered beyond expectations: temples, waterfalls, historical landmarks, traditional villages, rice fields: all carefully chosen to give me an authentic experience of Bali without the tourist crowds. That alone is something most guides fail to achieve, and he nailed it. He was punctual every single day, communicated clearly throughout, and was flexible whenever the day called for it. But what truly sets Gede apart is his depth of knowledge. He was born and raised in Bali, and it shows because he knows this island inside out. Through our conversations, I learned so much about Balinese history, culture, and the way the past continues to shape life on the island today. A beautiful birthday treat

Just FYI I went on their spa and temple package. It was beautiful as Gede, the owner of AWAY Wanderlust, made sure that I'll enjoy this birthday treat for myself. I got a birthday cake after my massage and herbal bath. The tour guide, Mega, then brought me to the Tirta Empul temple and was guided on how to do the traditional purification ritual. Mega also took lots of photos , allowing me to document my special day. But my favorite is a sidetrip to a community owned coffee farm which is just near the temple. I love te coffee and tea tasting and getting to know more about Bali agriculture. That's an eye opener for me as I visited Bali many times but I always associate it with tourism or wellness. It didn't occur to me that the island still has a thriving farm sector.

Un unforgettable experience in the real side of Bali

It was an awesome experience. I was able to see a different side of Bali and experience an unforgettable adventure in Desa Manggis. Gede opened his home for us, and made sure we have everything we need to be comfortable and have a great stay in his home. It was a pleasure talking with Gede and getting to know him and his family. I will absolutely do the experience again, and I recommend anyone to do the same :)

It does not get more than this tour, excellant

I booked this tour for my daughter and myself. I have been to Bali 4 times and wanted to experience the real bali, seeing their homes, helping them cook, meeting the extended family and so much more. We were not disappointed, I learnt more in 1 night, 2 days about the people and the culture than I had in my previous 4 visits. Gede and Mira, your hospitality into your home and village was amazing, your dad's cooking amazing. Learning about the process of Arak, not for the faint hearted , the well known smelly fruit, which you are the only one that eats in your family, I think that says a lot, yes the Durian. Feeding the cow, cutting feed for him, certainly a first. Eating at the village warang, real authentic local food. Mira did a fabulous job of doing our make up, hair and dressing us in traditional clothing. Beautiful memories we have of this experience. I could go on and on, but you have to experience the real and raw tour. If you looking for nature and culture filled experience, please support this tour. Gede gives back so much to his village . If you looking for comfort and luxury, don't book but if you want to understand the real way of life and people, please book.
