    About this experience

Unique culinary experience in Jewish district. Do you know Rugelach? Have you prepared Challah? If you are interested in traditional Central-European Jewish cuisine, come and cook together. Learn about the origin of Jewish dishes and drinks as well as their preparation and have a look at how we live in Budapest. I would like to share a lot of interesting family stories with you. My story: 'My relationship with Jewish people and culture started more than 15 years ago when I got to know my husband. I met him and became part of a modern Jewish family. The main figure of the family is the grandmother whose love for life, attitude and modern way of thinking is an example for me to follow. It was her who taught me the following dishes and I am really grateful to her for introducing me the secrets of Jewish cuisine.'

    Awesome Class!!

This cooking class was one of the best we have done so far. We try to do at least one (and a lot of times more) cooking class in every country we visit in Europe. Marti was awesome! This class is full hands on. She doesn’t just show you how to mix, knead, or stir while she does it all. She shows you or tells you how and then you do it. My husband even enjoyed it. The most cooking he does at home is warm things in the microwave. The food we made was delicious. Marti made cooking fun. You can really tell that she loves her job.

My sons and I really enjoyed Marti's Jewish cooking class. Marti is lovely and engaging; she speaks excellent English. My sons and I had great fun cooking and learning more about Hungarian Jewish food

    Jewish cooking with a local

Thank you to Marti for sharing her kitchen at short notice to join the Jewish cooking class. Beautiful food cooked in a small group and shared over a glass of Hungarian wine. Loved sharing food and travel tips in Marti’s relaxed kitchen.

    Great class!

This cooking class was wonderful! Marti made us feel comfortable and confident while we made delicious food. She taught us helpful tricks, but most importantly-she was a pleasure to spend time with during the class. Being able to speak with her and learn more about Hungarian traditions and life was fabulous. Highly recommend the class and any chance to spend time with Marti.

Authentic Jewish Cooking Class by a Professional chef: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Budapest.

How much does Authentic Jewish Cooking Class by a Professional chef cost?

    +

Prices start at $117 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Budapest usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Authentic Jewish Cooking Class by a Professional chef take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Budapest is not rushed.

Is Authentic Jewish Cooking Class by a Professional chef worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Budapest, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Authentic Jewish Cooking Class by a Professional chef?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Authentic Jewish Cooking Class by a Professional chef suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Authentic Jewish Cooking Class by a Professional chef?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Budapest can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Budapest and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Authentic Jewish Cooking Class by a Professional chef start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Budapest within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Budapest?

    +

On Outty we rank every Budapest experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Budapest City Landmarks Walking Tour in 2 Hours, Countryside Half-day Gastro-Wine Tour from Budapest Meal & pickup, Budapest free walking tour: Parliament and Shoes Memorial. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Budapest?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Budapest?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
