This countryside tour was...
This countryside tour was one of my favorite experiences in Hoi An! I got to explore the countryside on the back of a motorbike, which was such a fun way to see the area. I would have been too nervous to try it on my own, but doing it as part of the tour made me feel completely comfortable. The tour was very well paced, and I learned so much about the local culture along the way. Loi is a great guide and is very open to answering questions, which made the experience feel personal and engaging. I especially loved the coconut boat ride and getting to meet some of the local farmers. Everyone was incredibly kind, including the woman who welcomed me while making rice noodles. I was so grateful to be given a little glimpse into their everyday lives. It made the experience feel really special. Loi is a wonderful tour guide, and I would absolutely recommend this tour. It’s a can’t miss experience in Hoi An!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for such a wonderful and thoughtful review! I’m truly happy to hear that the countryside tour became one of your favorite experiences in Hoi An. It was a pleasure having you with me and showing you the beautiful countryside, from riding through the local villages to the coconut boat ride and meeting the friendly local farmers. I’m especially glad you felt comfortable on the motorbike and enjoyed seeing a different side of Hoi An. I really appreciate your kind words about the local families we visited. They are such a special part of the experience, and I’m happy you enjoyed getting a little glimpse into their daily lives and learning how to make rice noodles. You were such a lovely and easy-going guest, and I really enjoyed our conversations and time together. Thank you again for choosing my tour and for recommending it so highly. I hope to see you again in Vietnam someday! 😊🇻🇳

Great day touring the...
Great day touring the beautiful countryside around Hoi An. Learning firsthand (literally) about rice cultivation — getting to plow with w water buffalo, rake the paddy and plant the rice was so cool. Then, getting to make rice noodles later was a great way to tie rice farming with rice eating; most fun and interesting. Many thanks to David and his wife for leading us on this memorable activity!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! It was truly a pleasure to meet you and share our countryside with you. I’m so happy you enjoyed the hands-on experience of plowing the rice field with the water buffalo, planting rice, and making traditional rice noodles. It means a lot to know these activities made your day so memorable. My wife and I really enjoyed spending time with you, and we hope to welcome you back to Hoi An again someday. Wishing you safe travels and all the best! 😊

An absolutely unforgettable day — book Loi (David)!
We did the “Authentic Hoi An: Explore Countryside with Locals” tour and it was the highlight of our trip. Our guide, Loi (David), is the reason why. The day started with a delightful surprise: He and his wife rolled up to our hotel on scooters, which was exactly the way we’d been hoping to see the city. From that moment on, we were in great hands. He is a wonderful communicator — he walked us through every stop, where we were headed, and what to expect, so the whole day was completely stress-free. As a local himself, he shared stories and background with real pride, and he did it with so much humor and warmth that it felt less like a tour and more like exploring with a friend. The experiences themselves were rich and authentic. We visited the fishing village of Duy Hai and got a heartfelt look at life built around the sea. We floated through the Cam Thanh water coconut forest in a traditional basket boat. We spent time in the rice fields learning to plough, plant, and walk alongside a gentle water buffalo. A local family welcomed us into their home to show us how rice noodles and rice paper are made by hand, and we got to try it ourselves. And weaving between stops on the back of the motorbike was honestly one of the most fun ways to take in the area. We finished at a coffee shop with incredible salted coffee, and even brought some beans home. He had thoughtful suggestions for everything else we asked about, with zero pressure. When we mentioned other places we were curious about, he simply offered to help if we had questions. We ended up booking another tour with him! Attentive, caring, funny, and genuinely passionate about sharing his home — we cannot recommend Loi (David) highly enough. If you want an authentic, people-first experience in Hoi An, book this tour and ask for him.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a beautiful and detailed review. It truly means a lot to me and my wife to read your kind words. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed the countryside experience, the local activities, and the time together on the scooters. Sharing our home and daily life with you was honestly a pleasure for us as well. I’m especially glad that you felt comfortable, relaxed, and able to enjoy everything without stress — that is exactly what I always hope for my guests. Thank you again for trusting us and even joining another tour during your stay. You are always welcome back anytime in Hoi An or Da Nang, and we would be very happy to see you again in the future. Wishing you safe travels and many more great adventures ahead 🙏

A fantastic, wide ranging experience.
My authentic tour of Vietnam was my favourite experience of my trip by far. David was a really friendly and approachable guide who readily shared his experiences and knowledge. In a, relatively, short space of time - I had the opportunity to visit a fishing village and fish market, be spun in a boat at the eco coconut boat village, explore a vegetable market, plant rice in a paddy field and learn how to make rice noodles. What at action packed tour!! Finishing with a salt coffee in a cafe back in Hoi An. As a solo female traveller - I can highly recommend David and this tour. He is completely professional, interesting and informative. I learnt so much through the trip -I can highly recommend. Absolutely brilliant. The highlight has got to be ploughing with a water buffalo! Thank you David.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your amazing review! I truly appreciate your kind words. It was my pleasure to show you around and share some authentic local experiences with you. I’m very happy to hear that the tour was your favorite experience during your trip to Vietnam. It was great to see you try so many activities like planting rice, making rice noodles, and especially ploughing with the water buffalo! I’m glad you enjoyed the coconut boat ride and finishing the tour with a salt coffee in Hoi An. Thank you also for recommending my tour to other travelers. I hope you continue to have a wonderful journey, and I hope to see you again in Vietnam someday. Best regards, David 😊

Authentic Hoi An: Explore Countryside with Locals: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Hoi An.
How much does Authentic Hoi An: Explore Countryside with Locals cost?
+
Prices start at $50 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Hoi An usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Authentic Hoi An: Explore Countryside with Locals take?
+
Plan for about 4.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Hoi An is not rushed.
Is Authentic Hoi An: Explore Countryside with Locals worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 16 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Hoi An, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Authentic Hoi An: Explore Countryside with Locals?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Authentic Hoi An: Explore Countryside with Locals suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 4. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 4.5-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Authentic Hoi An: Explore Countryside with Locals?
+
Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hoi An can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hoi An and add a light layer if any part of the 4.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Authentic Hoi An: Explore Countryside with Locals start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Hoi An within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Hoi An?
+
On Outty we rank every Hoi An experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include HOI AN Hidden Gems in Rural Villages & River Islands PRIVATE TOUR, Coconut Jungle Eco & Hoi An City Tour With Boat Ride, Cooking Class Hoi An:Local Market, Basket Boat, Fishing & Cooking. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Hoi An?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Hoi An?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
