What you get

    About this experience

This is the real local guide trekking tour, authentic experience led by a local Black Hmong guide who was born and raised in the mountains of Sapa. The journey includes an overnight stay with my own family, offering guests a rare opportunity to live, eat, and connect with local people in a genuine way. During the trek, guests travel through remote villages, rice terraces, bamboo forests, and mountain trails that are far from mass tourism routes. Along the way, you will learn about daily life, farming traditions, local customs, and the challenges of living in the highlands. Sharing home-cooked meals, listening to local stories, and spending the night in a family homestay create meaningful cultural exchanges that cannot be experienced on standard tours. This experience is designed for travelers who value authenticity, human connection, and a deeper understanding of local culture rather than just sightseeing.

An unforgettable family experience in Sapa

We had a wonderful experience with Lala as our guide in Sapa! She spoke almost perfect English, was very easy to talk to, and shared so much interesting information about the local culture, traditions, and daily life. We visited beautiful local villages and hiked through stunning bamboo forests and rice terraces. One of the things that made the experience extra special was that she brought her two adorable children along. Our own two kids loved spending time with them, and it created such a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Lala was also incredibly flexible and adjusted the hike to suit the needs and pace of our family, which we really appreciated. We highly recommend Lala to anyone visiting Sapa. She is knowledgeable, kind, and made our day truly unforgettable!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your lovely review! It was a pleasure meeting your family. We’re so happy your children enjoyed spending time with ours, and that you enjoyed learning about our culture and villages. Thank you for your kind words, and we hope to welcome your family back to Sapa again someday! 😊 Warm wishes, Lala

Amazing guides and trek, with lovely personal homestay!

I’ve had the best 2 days trekking with Lala and Su. They are amazing guides and their knowledge and humour made the trip! The views and route were incredible and spending time in the home stay with them and their children was so nice. They were both so welcoming and chatty, which made the whole experience so personal. The homestay is so clean and cosy and has great facilities. The food was delicious too! Thank you again, this has been one of my favourite experiences of my trip!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much

A tour you have to do!

I have been wanting to do LaLa's Trekking experience ever since I stubbled upon their Instagram page! We did the 2 day trekking and homestay with Lala's family and I highly recommend! Honestly it is such a great experience. I invited some friends I made while travelling and we all loved it! Lala and her husband Su are lovely showing us their village and way of life. They guided us around beautiful rice and corn fields, amazing landscapes , rain or shine its still beautiful. Also welcoming us into their home, cooking us delicious food and one too many happy waters, ending up with an evening full of laughter :) so thanks again for such a great experience !!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your lovely review! It means so much that you chose to trek with us after finding us on Instagram. We’re so happy you enjoyed our family, the food, the beautiful landscapes, and of course the happy water! 😊 We hope to welcome you back to Sapa again one day.

    A must-do in Sapa!

Me and my partner had a brilliant experience with La La and her husband. The weather took a turn on the first day, but La La adapted the trek so it felt safe and a little less intense while it was absolutely chucking it down with rain, which we really appreciated. It was amazing to walk through Sapa, taking in the landscape, the villages, the rice fields and all the different elements along the way. What really stood out was the hospitality. It was clear that La La and her family have so much experience in making people feel comfortable and at home. From start to finish, everything felt well planned, well communicated and properly thought through, especially compared to some of the other trekking tours we found online. We’d 100% recommend this experience to anyone visiting Sapa. A proper highlight of our time in Vietnam. 10/10.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your amazing review! We’re so happy you enjoyed your time with us, even with the rainy weather. It means a lot to hear that you felt safe, welcomed, and at home with our family. We hope to see you again in Sapa one day! 😊

Best 2 day trekking in Sapa

Lala and Su (and family and neighbors) are the most welcoming hosts! We went in June which is low season for Sapa trekking but this made it all the better in our eyes. It ended up being a private trek for my friend and I. We felt comfortable asking Su and Lala many questions about their culture, their lives, Vietnamese history, etc all the while enjoying the beautiful dragon mountain, bamboo forest and rice paddy fields. Not to mention the dinner and pancake breakfast at the home stay was delicious. Lala and Su’s kids were adorable! Lala can definitely drink you under the table in happy water drinking games but totally optional activity. This was our complete favorite experience in Sapa and top 2 in Vietnam! If you are planning to do an overnight trek in Sapa you should 100% book with Lala and Su (almost more reasonably priced than other operators I saw!)

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re so happy you enjoyed the trek, our family, the food, and the beautiful nature of Sapa. It was a pleasure sharing our culture with you. We hope to welcome you back again one day! 😊

Authentic 2-Day Sapa Trekking with Local Black Hmong & Homestay: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Sapa.

How much does Authentic 2-Day Sapa Trekking with Local Black Hmong & Homestay cost?

    +

Prices start at $45 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Sapa usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Authentic 2-Day Sapa Trekking with Local Black Hmong & Homestay take?

    +

Plan for about 48 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Sapa is not rushed.

Is Authentic 2-Day Sapa Trekking with Local Black Hmong & Homestay worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 78 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 21 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Sapa, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Authentic 2-Day Sapa Trekking with Local Black Hmong & Homestay?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Authentic 2-Day Sapa Trekking with Local Black Hmong & Homestay suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 48-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Authentic 2-Day Sapa Trekking with Local Black Hmong & Homestay?

    +

Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Sapa can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Sapa and add a light layer if any part of the 48-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Authentic 2-Day Sapa Trekking with Local Black Hmong & Homestay start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Sapa within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Sapa?

    +

On Outty we rank every Sapa experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sapa 2 Days 1 Night From Hanoi - Overnight in Ta Van Village, Glass Bridge, Cat Cat Village, Moana, Alpine Coaster Sapa Tour, Sapa 1 day trek with local guide to the village by Comlam. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Sapa?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Sapa?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
