    Best day with Drew

We had the best day exploring beautiful New Zealand with Drew, Auckland’s most brilliant, interesting and knowledgeable tour guide! You so t be disappointed on this tour. Just outstanding. Rotorua is magical with its hot spring geysers. Skyline adventure park was fun for the whole family, esp the ziplining and luge. An all around great day with Drew!! Highly recommend.

Response from the operator: It was such a pleasure hosting you and reading your review. Thanks so much for your kind words about Drew and our tour and all the very best! Neill Sperath

    Highly Recommend

We were lucky enough to take part in several day tours while in New Zealand, and I honestly can’t speak highly enough of the team at TIME Unlimited Tours. From start to finish, they were absolutely outstanding. Their knowledge was phenomenal, and they shared stories, history and local insights in a way that was engaging, respectful and easy to follow. They took us to a wide range of incredible locations, thoughtfully planned to give us a genuine sense of place and culture rather than a rushed tourist experience. The small touches really stood out too, providing snacks while we were in transit, checking in on everyone’s comfort, and making sure the days ran smoothly and on time. Their sense of humour made the experience even more enjoyable, while their professionalism ensured we always felt safe and well looked after. They were approachable, flexible, and genuinely passionate about what they do, which made the tours feel personal and memorable. They were truly exceptional, so, so good, and I would highly recommend them to anyone visiting New Zealand and wanting an enriching, well-run, and enjoyable tour experience.

    Outstanding day trip to Rotorua

Had a great day trip with TIME Unlimited to Rotorua. We booked a private tour with TIME and what a treat that was. When booking, I worked with Neill to arrange a pretty packed day including a walk through Waimangu Volcanic Valley, tour of Whakarewarewa - The Living Maori Village, and a visit to the Redwoods. We were picked up near our hotel at 8 by Liam and Neill, and then I cannot even begin to describe the beauty of this day. Definitely happy with my choice of destinations, and wish we could have stayed longer. Waimangu: they recommend 2.5 hrs for the full walk to the lake, and we did it in about an hour walking quickly but not missing things. Buses back to the entrance are every 40-60mins. The walk down is mostly downhill but there are some sections with stairs. Not crowded, peaceful, stunning. Whakarewarewa: so glad Neill insisted we prioritize this when booking. This was such a special visit to the village and we got to see the places where food can be cooked via steam! Learned about the history of this village and some of the history of the Māori and NZ government - missed the gift shop because it closed early, so pick up souvenirs at the start! Whole tour took about 90mins. Redwoods: we didn’t have much time to spare but so glad we got to see this magical beautiful place. Could have spent a day or so here wandering. The tree canopy walk looked narrow and chaotic, bland there are so many ground paths! Don’t get lost! The drive was pretty easy, the vehicle very comfortable, and the scenery along the way was beautiful. Liam and Neill shared so much Māori and geological history, I learned a lot and am so glad we made the time for this adventure. Originally planned to have a one way trip, but halfway through we had a travel disruption and needed to go back with them to Auckland - they were incredibly accommodating and really kind. We also got lots of tips for driving in NZ, which was an extra bonus. Couldn’t recommend TIME more and will definitely rebook for a future trip.

A perfectly tailored Rotorua adventure for our family

After finding TIME Unlimited Tours on TripAdvisor, I reached out to Ceillhe for help planning part of our New Zealand vacation. We are a family of six with four teens/young adults. Ceillhe not only saved us from my husband attempting to drive on the left, she also guided me in shaping our Rotorua itinerary. Though our time was limited, she listened carefully to our goals and tailored everything to our interests. Her lodging and activity recommendations were spot-on—from upgrading our glowworm cave visit to black water rafting at the Waitomo Caves, to adding cultural depth at Te Puia, and the wild fun of the ZORB. Perhaps most memorable was the drive itself, where we connected with Ceillhe and learned about New Zealand and Māori culture.

Auckland to Rotorua Private Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Auckland.

How much does Auckland to Rotorua Private Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $748 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Auckland usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Auckland to Rotorua Private Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Auckland is not rushed.

Is Auckland to Rotorua Private Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 51 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable outdoors in Auckland, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Auckland to Rotorua Private Tour?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Auckland to Rotorua Private Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Auckland to Rotorua Private Tour?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Auckland can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Auckland and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Auckland to Rotorua Private Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Auckland within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Auckland?

    +

On Outty we rank every Auckland experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Hobbiton & Waitomo Caves Guided Day Trip from Auckland incl lunch, Hobbiton Movie Set Small Group Tour with Cheeky Kiwi Travel, Hobbiton & Waitomo Glowworm Caves Tour with Lunch from Auckland. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Auckland?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Auckland?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
