    Tour guide was...

Tour guide was knowledgeable about the places I we stopped at but didn't talk about all the places we were passing. Would have appreciated more information. Also, no water provided. Long tour with nothing to drink.

    Miscues from Viator Regarding Bookings

Sam was good, but Viator needs to get their act together regarding bookings. We booked the morning excursion, only to receive a communication from the tour operator a few days prior to our excursion that the morning timeslot was overbooked and we were being moved to the afternoon tour. I went onto the Viator app and looked and it said that tours for the morning spots were still available in addition to the afternoon. I replied with the information I saw online only to be informed by the tour operator that they had no control over what Viator did. When I received my voucher from Viator a couple days prior to the excursion, the timeslots on the voucher said that I was confirmed for the morning tour. When I received meeting instructions from the tour operator the day before the excursion, I was told that I would be in the afternoon session. I went ahead and did the afternoon excursion, but one of the stops that was listed on the morning excursion was left out. All in all, it worked ok for me, but certainly not a five star experience, and it would have been a disaster if I had had other plans for the afternoon. This was not an isolated situation, as we were not the only party in our group who had experienced this scenario with Viator.

Response from the operator: "We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused during your journey with us in New Zealand. We are striving to improve our tours every day to ensure a better experience. It was a true honor to have you with us, especially through the challenging weather. We wish you nothing but happiness and blessings on all your future travels."

    A pleasant half day tour!

If you want to know more about Auckland, this is the right trip for you. We have a small group of 4 people. Sam is our driver/tour guide. He is very friendly and knowledgable. It is a pleasant half day tour with perfect weather (65F-70F).

Response from the operator: "It was a true honor to share such wonderful moments with you. I sincerely hope your memories of New Zealand are filled with nothing but happiness. We look forward to the possibility of welcoming you again, and we will continue to strive to provide even better tour experiences."

    Auckland small group tour

Great tour. Would highly recommend. Take water and any other refreshments with you as although there are opportunities for restroom breaks no access to purchase anything on the tour. Sam was very friendly and informative and filled our time in each stop with useful information. Also offering his skills as photographer. We felt we now have a much better understanding of not only Auckland but New Zealand in general.

Response from the operator: "I hope the New Zealand tour with Sam remains a wonderful memory for you. Whenever you think of New Zealand, please remember Sam! :) Thank you for your kind words despite my shortcomings; I will continue to work hard to ensure we remain a consistently great tour company."

Auckland City Top Sights Half Day Tour - Small Group: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Auckland.

How much does Auckland City Top Sights Half Day Tour - Small Group cost?

    +

Prices start at $160 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Auckland usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Auckland City Top Sights Half Day Tour - Small Group take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Auckland is not rushed.

Is Auckland City Top Sights Half Day Tour - Small Group worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.1/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Auckland, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Auckland City Top Sights Half Day Tour - Small Group?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Auckland City Top Sights Half Day Tour - Small Group suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Auckland City Top Sights Half Day Tour - Small Group?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Auckland can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Auckland and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Auckland City Top Sights Half Day Tour - Small Group start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Auckland within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Auckland?

    +

On Outty we rank every Auckland experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Hobbiton & Waitomo Caves Guided Day Trip from Auckland incl lunch, Hobbiton Movie Set Small Group Tour with Cheeky Kiwi Travel, Hobbiton & Waitomo Glowworm Caves Tour with Lunch from Auckland. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Auckland?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Auckland?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
