An Acropolis tour that did not include the Acropolis
No. the focus of this trip was clearly supposed to be the Acropolis. The day we went was a national holiday so my guide decided we would go to Sounion first and would end the day at the Acropolis. But when we got to the Acropolis, they were out of tickets. In short, a tour we wanted to focus on the Acropolis did not include the Acropolis. I will be demanding Trip Advisor to refund half the money.
Response from the operator: Dear Gerald, Thank you for your feedback with the 2 stars rating !!!. We very carefuly read that. What you don't say : 1. You have booked the Full Day Athens & Sounion Tour on Oct. 28th and not an Acropolis Tour. This date was a free entrance date into the sights. You had set as pick up time the 10 a.m.. 2. In order to avoid the crowd in the Athens sights the driver suggested you (not decided) to have the Sounion part first and then the Athens sights. You agreed on that. 3. The date Oct. 28th was free day. For the free entrance it was needed to get a free pass in person from the booths in the entrance gates of the sights. The driver informed you from the starting of the tour. 4. The duration of your tour was known to you that was 8 hours. This means that the tour started at 10 a.m. and ended at 6 p.m.. But, while beeing to Sounion you asked the driver to shorten the duration from 8 hours to 6 1/2 hours (be back to the cruise ship at 4:30 p.m.) So the driver tried to modify the itinenary. 5. You were outside the Acropolis at 2:15 p.m.. At that exact time there were not available free entrabce tickets. But there were many available free entrance tickets after 3:30 p.m. and then. I reminded you that the tour was supposed that would be ended at 6 p.m.. BUT NO. YOU ASKED TO HAVE AN 8 HOURS TOUR WITHIN 6 1/2 HOURS. IF WE HAD THE NORMAL 8 HOURS DURATION OF THE TOUR YOU WERE BE ABLE TO VISIT ACROPOLIS IN THE TIME SLOT 4 P.M. UP 5:30 P.M.. THAT WAS THE PLAN. We have many additional comments but we don't want to get the viewers tired. After the above : We feel sorry that you couldn't manage to visit the Acropolis. But was something above us. You asked for time duration changes (shorten) last minute. You have asked for some refund We have already took actions to satisfy you "for this specific need". We believe that this will make you to feel better. Regards, JG Athens Tours

Great tour .. very worthwhile!
Wonderful experience. Our driver, George, was most gracious, knowledgeable and accommodating. Very convenient way to see so many Athens sights; certainly never could have done all this jumping in and out of taxis all day, to say the least. Drive down to Poseidon Temple was long, but sights along the way also made it interesting. Ended the trip with a delightful luncheon at a local seaside fish restaurant, looking up at the Temple. Perfect ending to a great day!
Response from the operator: Dear Gene, thank you very much for taking the time to post this excellent feedback. We and George are very happy that you had good time and remained fully satisfied while using our services for your Athens & Sounion private tour. We are looking forward to welcome you again in the future. Our Best Regards, JG Athens Tours

Excellent tour guide, beautiful scenery!
My husband and I went on the half day private tour of Poseidon at Sunset on May 10, 2025. George was our tour guide and he was excellent! He was funny, knowledgeable, and answered every question we had. We could tell that he loved Athens and its surrounding areas and so we did too! It was catching. The scenery was beautiful, the history was interesting, and George made it fun!! We highly recommend this tour with George.
Response from the operator: Dear Jani, thank you very much for taking the time to post this excellent feedback. We and George are very happy that you had good time and remained fully satisfied while using our services for your Sounion Sunset Tour. We are looking forward to welcome you again in the future. 5 star Athens Tour
We had a great day with Theodore. He looked after us all day and took us to some places we didn't expect to see as well. Saw all the sights we wanted, plus more. The sedan was very comfortable and great air con as it was very warm in Athens. We also stopped for food and drink recommended by Theodore which was excellent. We would definitely use this company again. Thanks for a great time.

Why this scores 59
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Athens Sights & Sounion (Poseidon Temple) - Private Full Day Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Athens.
How much does Athens Sights & Sounion (Poseidon Temple) - Private Full Day Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $435 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Athens usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Athens Sights & Sounion (Poseidon Temple) - Private Full Day Tour take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Athens is not rushed.
Is Athens Sights & Sounion (Poseidon Temple) - Private Full Day Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 15 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Athens, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Athens Sights & Sounion (Poseidon Temple) - Private Full Day Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Athens Sights & Sounion (Poseidon Temple) - Private Full Day Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Athens Sights & Sounion (Poseidon Temple) - Private Full Day Tour?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Athens can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Athens and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Athens Sights & Sounion (Poseidon Temple) - Private Full Day Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Athens within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Athens?
+
On Outty we rank every Athens experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Athens Small Group E-Bike Tour, Small Group Greek Traditional Food Tour in Athens 20+ Tastings, Athens Scenic Bike Tour with Regular or Electric Bike + Acropolis. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Athens?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Athens?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
