The best idea we’ve had so far on the cruise

After a very hot morning it was amazing to get to a beautiful kitchen and learn traditional Greek cooking techniques. I’m a horrible and stressed out cook but she made it so easy, delicious and fun. I can’t wait to make this for friends and family. Vacation is always better when you get to take some culture home and enjoy it again and again. Getting there in uber was super easy and it was only 15 minutes from the Royal Cruise port. I will def tell my friends to do this viator experience when they go to Athens.

    Good class!!

I loved the class. We cooked many things at once. The location is on the 5th floors of a building with a sign out front. The elevator lift works, although it may not look like it is operational. The only thing that would have made it better is if wine was served throughout the process. We each received one small carafe of our selected drink when it was time to eat the food we prepared. I was expecting more based on the description. Otherwise, it was great.

Response from the operator: Thank you very much for your lovely review. We are so glad you enjoyed the class and all the dishes you prepared! For safety reasons, as guests are using knives, hot ovens and cooking equipment, we do not serve alcohol during the hands-on cooking part of the experience. We introduced this policy after encountering some difficult situations in the past when wine was served throughout the lesson. Wine, beer, soft drinks and water are served during the meal, and guests are welcome to have refills. I normally check regularly whether everyone would like another drink, so I am very sorry if I missed asking your group on this occasion. Thank you for pointing it out, as it helps us make sure the drinks included in the experience are always clearly offered.

Fabulous Experience with Cook in Athens and Chef Marilena!

Marilena and her team graciously hosted our group for an absolutely delightful late afternoon Greek Meze Cooking Class. Our group of 11 enjoyed the camaraderie of cooking together in addition to Marilena's easy and effortless style of providing instruction. She's a hands on instructor along with her team helping right along with us. We found the cooking area well prepped and spotlessly clean. The area was continuously checked for cleanliness and wiped down as needed. We ended the session sitting around a large dining table savoring every bite. The next day we received a lovely recipe pamphlet that included eac dish we made including pages of additional recipes. Our complete meze menu included: Cheese pies baked in the oven Dolmadakia (stuffed grape leaves) Kleftiko (pork with peppers, onions, and spices) Saragli (rolled baclava) Soutzoukakia (rolled meatballs) Stuffed peppers with savory cheese filling Tzatziki If you enjoy food and spending time in the kitchen, this class is a must while visiting Athens. You'll come away with new friends and an appreciation for well-made Greek cuisine.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind and detailed review! I’m really happy you and your group enjoyed both the cooking experience and the time spent together in the kitchen. It’s great to hear that the class felt well organized and welcoming—we always try to keep things smooth, hands-on, and relaxed at the same time. I’m also glad you enjoyed the meze menu and our time around the table at the end 😊 I hope you’ll recreate the dishes at home and relive the experience. It was a pleasure hosting you all—thank you again for the recommendation!

Athens Greek Meze Cooking Class: 7 Dishes & Acropolis View: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Athens.

How much does Athens Greek Meze Cooking Class: 7 Dishes & Acropolis View cost?

    +

Prices start at $95 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Athens usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Athens Greek Meze Cooking Class: 7 Dishes & Acropolis View take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Athens is not rushed.

Is Athens Greek Meze Cooking Class: 7 Dishes & Acropolis View worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 73 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 44 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Athens, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Athens Greek Meze Cooking Class: 7 Dishes & Acropolis View?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Athens Greek Meze Cooking Class: 7 Dishes & Acropolis View suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Athens Greek Meze Cooking Class: 7 Dishes & Acropolis View?

    +

Around 15 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Athens can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Athens and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Athens Greek Meze Cooking Class: 7 Dishes & Acropolis View start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Athens within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Athens?

    +

On Outty we rank every Athens experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Athens Small Group E-Bike Tour, Small Group Greek Traditional Food Tour in Athens 20+ Tastings, Athens Scenic Bike Tour with Regular or Electric Bike + Acropolis. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Athens?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Athens?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
