What a great adventure!!! Shoutout to Christopher, Nelson, Dylan, Andre, plus the beautiful girl driving (forgot her name). Each went above and beyond to insure we had a great experience. The Zip lining and horseback riding tour was not just a quick thrill, it was half day adventure / educational experience. Highly recommend!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your fantastic review! We're thrilled to hear that you had such a great adventure with us. It's wonderful to know that Christopher, Nelson, Dylan, André, and our driver all helped make your day so memorable. We'll be sure to share your kind words with the entire team—they'll truly appreciate your recognition. We're especially happy that you enjoyed not only the excitement of the ziplining and horseback riding but also the educational side of the experience. We love sharing the natural beauty, wildlife, and culture of the Arenal region with our guests, making each tour much more than just an adventure. Thank you for your recommendation and for choosing to explore La Fortuna with us. We hope to welcome you back for another unforgettable experience in the future. Pura Vida!

Thrown off Crazed Horse and Lucky to be Alive

I am sorry to have to post this review but if I could give 0 stars I would. Our family of 4 arrived and were paired with horses. My daughter was paired with a horse that galloped and did not listen, and was terrified the entire ride up. At the top, she started to cry so I insisted that we switch horses. We continued down the mountain together. At the bottom, my husband's horse became crazed, ran across the highway, jumped past a closed barrier with barbed wire, and threw him to the ground. My husband landed on his back and is lucky to be alive. While the company took him to the hospital and handled the xrays, he ended up black and blue the rest of the trip, with me and my two daughters completely shocked and traumatized. To see his horse run off in the distance with my husband screaming desperately; only for the horse to return a couple minutes later alone was a gut - renching experience that I would never wish on anyone. Please consider a company that is more sensitive to selecting safe and well trained horses. I would never recommend for children or anyone due to safety concerns. This outcome could have been far worse but the fear and terror will remain in our memories forever.

6 Star Experience

This was an amazing experience! I would give six stars if I could. The pickup from our hotel was dead simple and the driver was perfectly on time. Our two tour guides (Charlie and Dillon) were the nicest people. In fact, everyone involved was extremely friendly. The horse riding tour itself was breath taking. The horses were easy to ride, though each has their own personality, so getting to know your horse was important. Some parts of the trail required the horses to be nimble and slow and other parts allowed them to run. It was both uphill and downhill on rock trails and grass. The Zipline part was phenomenal! Oh my gosh the views!!! I have a fear of heights but had no issues doing this course. There's something about flying through trees securely in a harness that eliminated all fears. It was odd. I was nervous but after the first one had zero reservations. Charlie went above and beyond. One of our party members dropped their phone on the trail at some point. They didn't know they did until the end. Charlie went back out and found it rather quickly saving the day. The only thing to note is tips can only be made in cash. At least at the time of writing this. This was an A++++ experience all around. I'd highly recommend it.

Fun times with horses and zip lines.

Fun time with the horse ride and zip lining. My wife was put on a mule which proved to be true to its temperament. It was very stubborn and it was not easy for her to control. Other than that, it was a wonderful experience.

Arenal Canopy and Horseback Riding Adventure: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for La Fortuna.

How much does Arenal Canopy and Horseback Riding Adventure cost?

+

Prices start at $153 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in La Fortuna usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Arenal Canopy and Horseback Riding Adventure take?

+

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in La Fortuna is not rushed.

Is Arenal Canopy and Horseback Riding Adventure worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 80 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in La Fortuna, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Arenal Canopy and Horseback Riding Adventure?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Arenal Canopy and Horseback Riding Adventure suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 5. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 4-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Arenal Canopy and Horseback Riding Adventure?

+

Around 28 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in La Fortuna can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in La Fortuna and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Arenal Canopy and Horseback Riding Adventure start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central La Fortuna within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in La Fortuna?

+

On Outty we rank every La Fortuna experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Upper Balsa River White Water Rafting Class 3/4 in Costa Rica, North Fields Cafe: Craft Specialty Coffee and Chocolate Tour, Canyoning Adventure Rappelling Waterfalls in Arenal Volcano. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit La Fortuna?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in La Fortuna?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
