What you get
About this experience
We propose you to learn more about the Lavapiés district from the urban, historical and architectural point of view. We recommend that you save some time before the aperitif by the Rastro to walk together and learn about the history of theaters, cinemas, cafés, museums or their corralas, typical buildings of houses in the authentic heart of Madrid that Traveler has declared as the coolest neighborhood of the world. Small hidden gems like the municipal printing house, rationalist industrial building of 1930 or the last in the area to have a drink like Sala Equís, the last X cinema in Madrid. From here to Cascorro and the history of how the Rastro began, combining the most authentic with the latest in vintage furniture. From there we will go to the Tabacalera where you can see the best of urban art on its facades, passing by Doctor Fourquet with its art galleries until the expansion of the Reina Sofía Museum, ending at the San Fernando Market where you can have an aperitif with a vermouth and some tapas

BOOK this tour with Emilio! 10/10 recommend. Choose your walking shoes carefully! :)
Wonderful tour! Emilio had so much breadth and depth of knowledge around the history, politics and architecture of these neighborhoods. We SO appreciated his energy and enthusiasm and because of him we were able to see and appreciate many spots that we would have otherwise missed or perhaps seen but without contextualization. Our daughter is studying architecture and was in Madrid for the semester, we did this tour when we visited during her last month there. I wish she'd been aware of and able to go with Emilio for his other tour(s)-so much to learn about this beautiful city. Highly recommend booking this tour and wear your most comfortable walking shoes!!!

A great addition to your trip to Madrid
Great 3h30m tour of the Lavapies district, full of insights and fun facts. Emilio was a very knowledgeable guide. Would certainly recommend.

Super recommended visit
A fantastic route, even for people who live in Madrid, like us. Very interesting tour of the architecture, urbanism and history of this neighborhood. Emilio is one of the best guides I have seen (not to say the best), with a great knowledge and very pleasant. We will definitely repeat with another of the routes it offers.
Response from the operator: Muchas gracias por tu reseña, Toñi. Me alegra mucho saber que disfrutasteis la experiencia y que descubristeis parte de la historia de la ciudad, pese a vivir en ella hace años. Espero que nos veamos de nuevo en otra de nuestras rutas por Madrid.

Increibke
Incredible visit, we leave no corner of Lavapies to discover, Emilio knows all the stories about the neighborhood and has a great Capacity (in covers) to transmit them, never disappoints, we will repeat visit 😊
Response from the operator: Muchas gracias por tus palabras. Es un placer haceros descubrir la historia de los barrios de nuestra ciudad por la que hemos paseado muchas veces sin conocer las historias detrás de cada edificio o de cada plaza.

Amazing experience
Emilio shows himself to know what he's talking about and he's not only pleasant, he's also accessible. A tour of the architecture and history of Madrid highly recommended. It doesn't disappoint at all
Response from the operator: Muchísimas gracias por tu evaluación. Fue un placer compartir la mañana con vosotras y la conversación final en la última azotea. Esperamos volver a veros pronto compartiendo nuevos architours juntos.

Why this scores 66
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Architour through Lavapiés and Rastro with an architect: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Madrid.
How much does Architour through Lavapiés and Rastro with an architect cost?
+
Prices start at $44 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Madrid usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Architour through Lavapiés and Rastro with an architect take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Madrid is not rushed.
Is Architour through Lavapiés and Rastro with an architect worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Madrid, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Architour through Lavapiés and Rastro with an architect?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Architour through Lavapiés and Rastro with an architect suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Architour through Lavapiés and Rastro with an architect?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Madrid can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Madrid and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Architour through Lavapiés and Rastro with an architect start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Madrid within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Madrid?
+
On Outty we rank every Madrid experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Madrid Essential: Historic Center, Plaza Mayor & Royal Palace, Madrid Walking Tour from Puerta del Sol to Retiro Park, Madrid Oscuro: Torture, Ghosts, Crimes and Legends. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Madrid?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Madrid?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
