About this experience
The National Museum of Anthropology is a national museum of Mexico. It’s the largest and most visited museum in Mexico. This is the most important building in Latin America, with rooms that contain the pre-hispanic evidence of the Mexicas, Mayas, Toltecas and more cultures from the country through time. The Anthropology Museum is the most emblematic place safeguarding the Mexican indigenous legacy. It stands as a symbol of identity, and as a mentor of generations that want to know about their cultural roots. Wonder at its innovative design, the art, and the symbolism that has given the building a well-known personality around the world. What you'll see and do
Museo Nacional de Antropologia
The museum is the synthesis of an ideological, scientific, and political feat. The museum’s collections include the Stone of the Sun, giant stone heads of the Olmec civilization that were found in the jungles of Tabasco and Veracruz, treasures recovered from the Mayan civilization, at the Sacred Cenote at Chichen Itza, among others. It also has a model of the location and layout of the former Aztec capital Tenochtitlan, the site of which is now occupied by the central area of modern-day Mexico City. The permanent exhibitions on the ground floor cover all pre-Columbian civilizations located on the current territory of Mexico as well as in former Mexican territory in what is today the southwestern United States. The museum also hosts visiting exhibits, generally focusing on other of the world’s great cultures

Great informational tour of Aztec civilization
Leonardo was a very good guide! Encouraged questions and answered them thoroughly. Gained a very comprehensive understanding of the ancient civilizations that shaped Mexico today.

Highly Recommend
Alicia was an incredible tour guide! She made all of the history and lore seem incredibly interesting and we were so locked in and eager to learn more, even after a long day of travel. I highly recommend booking this tour, because otherwise the museum itself is too overwhelming.

Why this scores 81
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Anthropology Museum Guided Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Mexico City.
How much does Anthropology Museum Guided Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $39 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Mexico City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Anthropology Museum Guided Tour take?
+
Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Mexico City is not rushed.
Is Anthropology Museum Guided Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 81 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 1,127 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Mexico City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Anthropology Museum Guided Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Anthropology Museum Guided Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 3. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 2.5-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Anthropology Museum Guided Tour?
+
Around 394 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Mexico City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Mexico City and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Anthropology Museum Guided Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Mexico City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Mexico City?
+
On Outty we rank every Mexico City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Frida Kahlo VIP [Museum Tickets Included] Walk, Markets & Churros, Local Foodie Adventure CDMX: Tacos & more with Sherpa Food Tours, Mexico City Historical Centre Food Tour with 7 Tastings & Drinks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Mexico City?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Mexico City?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
