Amazing experience with Gran Colombia Tours

This has been the best experience. We booked last minute because our plans had to change so didn’t really have time to plan the holiday in detail. Gran Columbia took care of everything. The hotels were great. Every transfer and pick-up was on time. All the guides were knowledgeable and friendly. We definitely would not have seen many of the things on the tour if we had tried to do this by ourselves. Highlights include the El Peñol rock, downtown Medellin and the Salt Cathedral. But there were no disappointing moments. We wanted to stay on in Cartagena longer to do some diving and Gran Colombia arranged additional transfers for us. Staff are very responsive: we got replies to our messages within minutes each time and kept checking in on us to see how things were going. Thoroughly recommend booking with Gran Colombia.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your wonderful and detailed review! We're truly delighted to hear this was your best experience and that we could support you even with last-minute changes. It’s great to know everything—from hotels to transfers and guides—ran smoothly and met your expectations. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you back to Colombia with Gran Colombia Tours for another unforgettable experience soon!

Headache Free

I want to start out by saying that the company did a great job and were always super responsive. With the amount of travel and coordination it took. I also want to thank them for their patience kn addressing all of my questions and inquired. Now comes the question of why they didn't get 5 stars. Our trip started a bit rocky when nobody met us at the airport and both the driver and the coordinator were not responding and after wasting about an hour at the airport we ended getting a taxi to get to a hotel. While we arrived Saturday night and were starting the tour I think it would have been better to switch Sunday and Monday tours and the reason is Sunday tour was a much longer one and felt harder to do after the travel day, as well as the Monday tour included museums that are closed on Mondays. The rest of the trip went smoothly and was almost perfect until the last tour before our departure. Not sure why the tour was outsourced to a different company. While it was stated that only the boat ride would be shared, the whole tour turned out to be shared and of course we spent 30 minutes waiting for someone at one of the stops and thus cutting our time at the beach. The trip to the aquarium turned to be a waste as it was all in Spanish and unlike previous guides this guide did not translate anything. To top it all off we had an extra stop at am additional island which was a complete disaster with a tiny rocky beach where you could not even get into the water and had absolutely nothing on the island.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re really glad to hear that overall you appreciated our responsiveness and coordination throughout your trip, and we truly value your recognition of our efforts. That said, we’re very sorry about the issues you encountered—especially the missed airport pickup and the confusion regarding the final day’s tour. Your feedback about the scheduling of the Sunday and Monday tours is also very helpful and will be taken into account for future planning, especially to ensure smoother transitions for travelers arriving after long flights. Regarding the outsourced tour, we apologize for the miscommunication and for the experience not aligning with what was originally described. That’s not the level of service we aim to provide, and we’ll make sure to review the collaboration with our partners to avoid this kind of situation going forward. Thank you again for your honest and detailed feedback—it helps us improve and continue providing better experiences. We truly hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back and give you the flawless tour experience you deserve.

Well organized quick tour through Colombia

Very well organized tour. There is always a guide picking you up and bringing you along the different tours. Traditional lunches are mostly included and there is bit of a flexibility in the choice. The pickups to and from the airports was well. The agency took care of the check ins. All in all it is a great tour to get to know 3 Colombian cities within a short timeframe and without having to plan much on your own.

Response from the operator: Hola, Michaela! Thank you for your review! We're glad to hear that you found the tour well-organized and enjoyed the convenience of having guides pick you up and accompany you throughout the different tours. It's great that the traditional lunches and flexibility in choices added to your experience, and we're happy the airport pickups and check-ins went smoothly. We appreciate you choosing Gran Colombia Tours, and we're thrilled to have helped you explore three Colombian cities with ease!

Fantastic general tour of Colombia

When I was looking for information about tours in Colombia for 12 people, including young children, I stumbled across GCT. Without knowing anything about them, just what I read in the reviews, I risked making the trip with them... and it was a tremendous decision. The itinerary includes the most important/known points in each city and everything was very well organized. Yes you are in a bit of a hurry because it covers a lot in a few days, but being a private tour we never feel rushed. The guides were all excellent! All with very different personalities and styles, but all very attentive and pleasant. Even the drivers and other staff who assisted us were very friendly. The hotels were comfortable; the transport logistics -including Domestic Flights- were very clear and accurate. Well, in the end we were very happy and satisfied with the experience and quality of service of GCT and its entire team. And we recommend them 100%

Response from the operator: Hola! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this review, it really means a lot to us and we are sure it will be very useful for other travellers. Our whole team is delighted to hear how much you enjoyed yourself and the good impressions you got from the guides, drivers and other GCT staff. Thank you very much for recommending us and we will always be here with open arms to welcome you again.

Exciting selection of places with magical nature and culture in Colombia, from the Gran Colombia team!

I booked the 10-day Gran Colombia Tours tour from Uruguay that said it was a “magical experience” and it was! After having thoroughly enjoyed it, I can value the organization and care in the personalized attention to travelers, with precision in every detail. We were also able to capture the complexity of the agency's task and its multiple members and collaborators, to offer us a magical experience, as the tour says. The accommodations were of the expected and necessary quality, as was the transportation. The air sections were quality trips, punctual and well attended. The guides deserve special praise for their training and careful treatment. We would say the same for the transfer drivers and we highlight their punctuality, but their friendly and helpful treatment was also a constant. Of the experiences chosen for the tour, we were impressed and captivated. They enriched us and we enjoyed them a lot! They told us that we had to walk, and climb slopes and stairs. And sometimes we stopped for a break, but we were always cared for and contemplated. Sure, they have a great country! But the tour framed it for us! So from Montserrate, La candelaria, the squares and museums, to the rainy showers of Bogotá; as well as visits to the salt cathedral in Zipaquirá and the origin of the legend of El Dorado in La Laguna de Guatavita; the coffee axis, the hot springs of Santa Rosa de Cabal, and the city of Pereira itself; walks through Medellín with its picturesque neighborhoods and its public transportation so appropriate to the environment; the Piedra del Peñol and the magic of the Guatapé town; and finally the unforgettable Cartagena de Indias, its history and its beautiful beaches and islands, its mystique and its exoticism, everything was very enjoyable for us! Thank you so much!

Response from the operator: Hola, Gonzalo. Hola, Gonzalo. We really appreciate you taking the time to leave such a detailed and positive review. We are very happy to know that the whole experience was really magical and that you were not only able to enjoy the beautiful landscapes and places that Colombia has, but also to know the kindness and warmth that characterizes us as Colombians, through the wide network of collaborators who work with us. We are very happy to have a huge team always ready to help and share. We hope to see you again in the future!

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Bogotá.

How much does An essential Colombian Tour to Bogota, Medellin and Cartagena 8-Day cost?

+

Prices start at $1846 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Bogotá usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does An essential Colombian Tour to Bogota, Medellin and Cartagena 8-Day take?

+

Plan for about 192 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Bogotá is not rushed.

Is An essential Colombian Tour to Bogota, Medellin and Cartagena 8-Day worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable food & drink in Bogotá, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule An essential Colombian Tour to Bogota, Medellin and Cartagena 8-Day?

+

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is An essential Colombian Tour to Bogota, Medellin and Cartagena 8-Day suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 6. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 192-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book An essential Colombian Tour to Bogota, Medellin and Cartagena 8-Day?

+

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bogotá can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bogotá and add a light layer if any part of the 192-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does An essential Colombian Tour to Bogota, Medellin and Cartagena 8-Day start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Bogotá within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Bogotá?

+

On Outty we rank every Bogotá experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private City Tour Bogota + Monserrate, Gold, Botero and Candelaria., Free Graffiti Walking Tour Every Day in Bogota, Viejo Bogota Food Tour with 12+ Tastings. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Bogotá?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Bogotá?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
