About this experience

Join a tour by MagicalTrip, proud winner of the TripAdvisor Best of the Best Award. Led by a Certified Guide, carefully selected for quality and authenticity. ◼︎ Our Story MagicalTrip pioneered bar-hopping tours in Japan back in 2018 — before it was a thing. Every stop is handpicked by local izakaya-hoppers who actually drink here. The person next to you won't be a tourist — it'll be a salaryman unwinding after work, or a student fresh out of exams. That's the Shibuya we want you to experience. ◼︎ Not Just a Pub Crawl Handpicked by local izakaya-hoppers — you get the best of Shibuya without the legwork. The night ends at a hidden sake bar a short walk from the Scramble — down a street most visitors walk right past. Never loved sake? The right bottle changes everything — your guide will help you find it. ◼︎ Small Group, Instant Chemistry By the last stop, the table feels like old friends. Your guide handles navigation, ordering, and the language barrier — so you can just enjoy.

What you'll see and do

  1. Just minutes from one of the busiest intersections in the world, Udagawacho sits on a quiet plateau where the developers never quite arrived. Independent coffee shops, natural wine bars, and decades-old record stores line streets that feel nothing like the Shibuya most visitors see. This is where locals actually spend their evenings — and where your night begins, with a seat at one of the neighborhood's most beloved izakayas.

    10 minutes here

  2. Shibuya Center-gai

A pedestrian street that has reinvented itself every decade since the postwar years — from black market stalls to teen fashion mecca to the buzzing dining and nightlife strip it is today. Your guide walks you through the history as you move deeper into the crowd, before settling in at a lively local izakaya that captures everything Shibuya is known for.

    10 minutes here

  3. Shibuya Crossing

Up to 3,000 people cross from every direction at once — and somehow, it works. Your guide explains how this intersection became a global symbol of Tokyo, and what's changed in the neighborhood towering above it. The perfect place to pause, look up, and take it all in — before disappearing down a side street to a hidden sake bar that most visitors walk right past.

    10 minutes here

  4. Hachiko

The bronze statue of a dog who waited nearly a decade for an owner who never came home. Hachiko became a national symbol of loyalty — and the most recognizable meeting point in Tokyo. Your guide shares the story behind the statue before leading you into the city's most iconic neighborhood.

This was a Magical...

This was a Magical introduction to Shibuya. Our guide, Megumi, was informative, helpful, great fun and made sure we didn't get lost on a busy Saturday night. The menu options for the included food and drinks ensured everyone was well catered for in the different venues that locals visit.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind review! We're delighted to hear that your introduction to Shibuya was such a memorable experience. It’s great to know that Megumi’s guidance, local knowledge, and fun personality helped you feel comfortable navigating the lively streets, especially on a busy Saturday night. We’re also pleased that you enjoyed the food and drink selections and got to experience venues that locals themselves frequent. The Best Parts of Shibuya you’d Never Be Able to See Otherwise

Shibuya has a lot going on, and this was without question the best way to experience it in one night. Hy, our guide, really knew his stuff. He took us to some amazing places that we never would have known about. I cannot over-emphasize what a knowledge person he was to have at our disposal. I would recommend this to anyone that wants to see sneaky-great parts of Shibuya that have really great, fun energy and are also free of tourists.

An Award-Winning Izakaya Night Out — Bar-Hop Shibuya Like a Local: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tokyo.

How much does An Award-Winning Izakaya Night Out — Bar-Hop Shibuya Like a Local cost?

+

Prices start at $6000 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tokyo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does An Award-Winning Izakaya Night Out — Bar-Hop Shibuya Like a Local take?

+

Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tokyo is not rushed.

Is An Award-Winning Izakaya Night Out — Bar-Hop Shibuya Like a Local worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 90 out of 100, which we label "90+ Club". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 1,088 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Tokyo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are. Scoring 90 or above puts it in the Outty 90+ Club, the top tier of everything we rank.

Can I cancel or reschedule An Award-Winning Izakaya Night Out — Bar-Hop Shibuya Like a Local?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is An Award-Winning Izakaya Night Out — Bar-Hop Shibuya Like a Local suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 20. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 3.5-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book An Award-Winning Izakaya Night Out — Bar-Hop Shibuya Like a Local?

+

Around 381 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tokyo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tokyo and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does An Award-Winning Izakaya Night Out — Bar-Hop Shibuya Like a Local start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tokyo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Tokyo?

+

Tokyo is less a city than a stack of neighborhoods with completely different opening hours. A guided food crawl through Shinjuku's Omoide Yokocho gets you past the no-tourist curtains, while the day trips west to Hakone and Fuji need an early start to be worth the fare. Our ranking weighs guide quality heavily here, because in Tokyo the guide is the product. On Outty we rank every Tokyo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Tokyo Shinjuku Chopsticks Making Class, Tokyo : Asakusa Chopsticks Making Class, Shinjuku Night Food and Bar Crawl. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Tokyo?

+

Late March to May for blossom, October to November for clear Fuji views. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Tokyo?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
