You will start the tour towards the quarries of Añashuayco and Culebrillas, located on the outskirts of the city. In Añashuayco you will meet the master stonemasons who, with ancient techniques, carve the ashlar — the volcanic white stone with which much of the Historic Center of Arequipa was built. Here you will know the process of extraction and carving of the ashlar, the volcanic white stone that gives its name to the “White City”. Master stonemasons will explain their traditional techniques and you can observe sculptures carved directly into the walls of the canyon. Time to take pictures and freely explore this imposing natural scenery.

  3. Shingles Quarry We continue to Culebrillas Quarry, a natural ravine formed by the erosion of wind and water. We will take a light hike through the narrow canyon, surrounded by ashlar rock formations that reach more than 20 meters high. Along the way you can see pre-Inca petroglyphs, testimony to the passage of ancient cultures through the area. An ideal place to connect with nature and capture spectacular photos.
