Amsterdam -miles of footprints and fun
We had one day in Amsterdam. With only one day to make pedestrian footprint we did not want to walk around aimlessly lost. This is where our guide Alan came in. Alan became part of our unforgettable Amsterdam experience. Our footprint requested of some thrift stores, cheese store and as many miles as possible. Alan started taking us by train to the markets walking our way back to our starting point by weaving in and out of all the side streets , the pretty streets, the roads less traveled, all while site seeing spontaneously. For example at the thrift store a high pair of shoes were selling for 15 Euros. On our journey back we stopped at the brand-name shoe store and found the vary same pair of shoes priced at $250. Alan showed us the square memorials plaques in front homes where Jews had one lived before they were killed in World War ll. I was later able to share this fact at the Anne Frank Museum. When we needed to use the toilet , Alan found the cleanest and fanciest places. He new when to hurry us along and when we wanted to hang a bit longer. We moved around, did and learned a lot. Alan pointed out other places to visit with directions. Genuinely, we had a better time in Amsterdam with Alan as our guide!
Response from the operator: We're absolutely delighted to hear your day in Amsterdam was such a memorable one. It’s wonderful to know the experience was tailored to your interests, combining hidden streets, local discoveries, fascinating history, and practical tips that helped you make the very most of your limited time in the city. Thank you for sharing such thoughtful feedback and for your kind recommendation — we're so glad this became such a special part of your Amsterdam visit.

Great tour with a local guide
Love that the tour started from my hotel. Anna was an outstanding guide. She asked questions to determine what my interests were and to identify any landmarks that I had already visited. The tour felt very personalized and catered to my interests. She answered questions about culture and quality of life in Amsterdam. She took me to see places that locals visit and appreciate. She filled two hours visiting interesting landmarks not even mentioned during my other tours of the city. Impressed by the interesting anecdotes and extensive knowledge of the city.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're delighted that you enjoyed starting the tour right from your hotel and that Anna made the experience so memorable. She takes great pride in getting to know each guest's interests, so it's fantastic to hear that the tour felt personalized and introduced you to places beyond the usual highlights. Thank you for choosing to explore Amsterdam with us. We hope to welcome you back for another unique experience in the future!

Why this scores 79
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Amsterdam Your Way: Canals, Hidden Corners & Local Life: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Amsterdam.
How much does Amsterdam Your Way: Canals, Hidden Corners & Local Life cost?
+
Prices start at $16 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Amsterdam usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Amsterdam Your Way: Canals, Hidden Corners & Local Life take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Amsterdam is not rushed.
Is Amsterdam Your Way: Canals, Hidden Corners & Local Life worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 79 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 255 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Amsterdam, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Amsterdam Your Way: Canals, Hidden Corners & Local Life?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Amsterdam Your Way: Canals, Hidden Corners & Local Life suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Amsterdam Your Way: Canals, Hidden Corners & Local Life?
+
Around 89 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Amsterdam can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Amsterdam and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Amsterdam Your Way: Canals, Hidden Corners & Local Life start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Amsterdam within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Amsterdam?
+
On Outty we rank every Amsterdam experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Amsterdam Canal Cruise with Local Guide and Small Group, Guided Bike Tour of Amsterdam's Highlights & Hidden Gems, Amsterdam: Luxury Canal Cruise including Cocktails & Snacks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Amsterdam?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Amsterdam?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
