Dont waste your money on the boat trips if you are not there to see what you are buying

It was not what I was expecting for the price. We were by far on the worst boat on the dock. Couldn’t see anything because it was not windows, it was just plastic covering the sides. The bites were a bit of crackers and the all you can drink was just knock off brands. I do not recommend this company.

They messed up my booking and the lights were very underwhelming

We met at the meeting point and the boat never arrived. I phoned them and they said there had been a mistake so they rescheduled us for an hour later than our original time. So we had to walk to our new pick up point and wait for the remainder of the time. When we finally did get into the boat it was nice however we found the lights underwhelming. They all had some deeper art meaning for example there was a radiator that supposedly symbolised kindness to each other?. Maybe it’s more exciting for people who are into art and deeper meaning but for us who just wanted to see some cool lights it wasn’t very good. The Christmas lights were more impressive. One was just a circle and they said it was the sun.

    Absolutely sucks save your money.

Boat was over packed. Couldn’t see anything (which was the point of the cruise). The seats were wet which then I had wet pants the rest of the night. Couldn’t hear the captain of the boat for the history about the buildings around. It was my mother birthday 12/31 and I thought this would be nice for her…..complete waste of money and would NEVER do it again. We did the drink and eat package which was crackers and pretzels. There was plenty of alcohol/drinks, that is the only reason I’m giving it 2 stars. Absolutely sucked.

    Extremely disappointing

Extremely disappointing tour. If you come during the winter, the visibility from the boats is close to zero due to the condensation effect in the heated glass boats. If you have the chance, dress very warmly and go for an open boat. The sculptures / art works themselves are worth seeing. Some are rally nice creations.

Amsterdam Light Festival: Heated Boat Cruise + Hot Drinks & Bite: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Amsterdam.

How much does Amsterdam Light Festival: Heated Boat Cruise + Hot Drinks & Bite cost?

    +

Prices start at $20 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Amsterdam usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Amsterdam Light Festival: Heated Boat Cruise + Hot Drinks & Bite take?

    +

Plan for about 1.3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Amsterdam is not rushed.

Is Amsterdam Light Festival: Heated Boat Cruise + Hot Drinks & Bite worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 73 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 208 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Amsterdam, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Amsterdam Light Festival: Heated Boat Cruise + Hot Drinks & Bite?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Amsterdam Light Festival: Heated Boat Cruise + Hot Drinks & Bite suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1.3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Amsterdam Light Festival: Heated Boat Cruise + Hot Drinks & Bite?

    +

Around 73 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Amsterdam can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Amsterdam and add a light layer if any part of the 1.3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Amsterdam Light Festival: Heated Boat Cruise + Hot Drinks & Bite start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Amsterdam within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Amsterdam?

    +

On Outty we rank every Amsterdam experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Amsterdam Canal Cruise with Local Guide and Small Group, Guided Bike Tour of Amsterdam's Highlights & Hidden Gems, Amsterdam: Luxury Canal Cruise including Cocktails & Snacks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Amsterdam?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Amsterdam?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
