A Fun & Spooky Way to Explore Amsterdam & It's History!

We had such a great time exploring Amsterdam with the Ghost Hunt: Self-Guided Mystery Adventure by Questo! The mix of spooky history and engaging storytelling kept us moving and entertained the whole way. A few of the instructions were a little unclear at certain spots, but they were close enough that we could easily find our way. If I could make any suggestion, it would be to exclude locations that feel inappropriate for a lighthearted ghost story—such as the Anne Frank House. That could just be personal preference, and I was still glad to visit those places, but they didn’t feel like the right fit for the theme. Overall, this was a unique and fun way to see the city from a different perspective. We’ll definitely be using the Questo app for more adventures—maybe even in our own city! Highly recommend for anyone who loves mysteries, history, and a little thrill!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for the detailed and thoughtful review! We're thrilled to hear you enjoyed the mix of spooky stories, history, and exploration in Amsterdam—it’s exactly the kind of experience we aim to create. We also really appreciate your suggestion about the locations. Sensitivity and context are important, and your feedback helps us improve and make better choices for future versions. Can’t wait to have you join another adventure—whether at home or on your next trip!

    Great family site seeing/history tour

Only drawback was construction and one of the clues was closed when we got there. We learned a lot of history and had a great time!!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're thrilled to hear that despite the construction and the closed clue, you had a great time and learned a lot of history during your experience. Your feedback about these challenges is noted, and we'll strive to improve our adventures further. If you have any more stories or suggestions to share, please feel free to reach out. We look forward to welcoming you on more historical journeys in the future!

    Dull Tour with this app.

Dull tour that we did with friends. The areas are very touristy and not really spooky. So the idea is okay, but the tour and challenges were not the best.

Response from the operator: We're sorry to hear that your experience with the tour was not as expected. Your feedback is valuable to us, and we appreciate your honesty. We'll take your comments into consideration to improve the tour and challenges for a more enjoyable experience in the future. If you have any specific suggestions or if there's anything else you'd like to share, feel free to reach out at care@questoapp.com. Thank you for your input.

Amsterdam Ghost Hunt: Self-Guided Mystery Adventure: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Amsterdam.

How much does Amsterdam Ghost Hunt: Self-Guided Mystery Adventure cost?

    +

Prices start at $6 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Amsterdam usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Amsterdam Ghost Hunt: Self-Guided Mystery Adventure take?

    +

Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Amsterdam is not rushed.

Is Amsterdam Ghost Hunt: Self-Guided Mystery Adventure worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.2/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Amsterdam, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Amsterdam Ghost Hunt: Self-Guided Mystery Adventure?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Amsterdam Ghost Hunt: Self-Guided Mystery Adventure suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Amsterdam Ghost Hunt: Self-Guided Mystery Adventure?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Amsterdam can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Amsterdam and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Amsterdam Ghost Hunt: Self-Guided Mystery Adventure start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Amsterdam within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Amsterdam?

    +

On Outty we rank every Amsterdam experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Amsterdam Canal Cruise with Local Guide and Small Group, Guided Bike Tour of Amsterdam's Highlights & Hidden Gems, Amsterdam: Luxury Canal Cruise including Cocktails & Snacks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Amsterdam?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Amsterdam?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
