The Rijksmuseum was founded in The Hague in 1800 and moved to Amsterdam in 1808, where it was first located in the Royal Palace and later in the Trippenhuis. The current main building was designed by Pierre Cuypers and first opened in 1885. On 13 April 2013, after a ten-year renovation which cost € 375 million, the main building was reopened by Queen Beatrix. In 2013 and 2014, it was the most visited museum in the Netherlands with record numbers of 2.2 million and 2.47 million visitors. It is also the largest art museum in the country. Our boats will sail along the Prinsengracht with a view on the Rijksmuseum The museum has on display 8,000 objects of art and history, from their total collection of 1 million objects from the years 1200–2000, among which are some masterpieces by Rembrandt, Frans Hals, and Johannes Vermeer. The museum also has a small Asian collection, which is on display in the Asian pavilion.

Magere Brug
One of Amsterdam’s many bridges is the beautiful Magere Brug, known to English speakers at the Skinny Bridge. This wooden drawbridge was once so narrow that it was hard for two pedestrians to pass each other. To cope with increasing traffic on the Amstel, a wider bridge replaced the narrow original in 1871.

A beautiful cruise around a beautiful city
A great cruise. We had a good size group and our guide was fun, informative and helpful. We opted for the cruise without wine and cheese which worked fine for us. We thought we would have the option to purchase drinks on board but that was never offered, but we didn't ask either. We arrived a couple of minutes late and there was a bit of confusion about where we should be. So get there a bit early to get that sorted out. We had an evening cruise it was a perfect time.

A beautiful cruise in a beautiful city
Thoroughly enjoyed the boat cruise. An hour was a good length and got a good introduction to the canal network. We arrived a couple of minutes late and there was a bit of confusion about the pickup area, so I would suggest get there early. We didn't opt for the wine and cheese and didn't feel we missed out. The guide was great, talked just enough, was inclusive and responsive.

Decided last minute since we had good weather it was a last minute decision . It was unclear what was included so we didn’t touch anything drink or food wise and people that bought the same ticket helped themselves
