About this experience
Depart from the city center, close to Central Station, and transfer to the Waterland District, just 15 minutes north of central Amsterdam. Riding comfortable bikes, you can admire a pancake flat scenery of gentle brooks, wooden houses and, naturally a windmill. Led by an experienced guide, you will pass through picturesque villages and towns, pedaling alongside the banks of the dikes and waterways that gave the Waterland District its name. Reclaimed from the sea by the entrepreneurial Dutch, the land is as full of history as it is of water.

Fun, educational, safe
Great single speed bikes for the flats around Amsterdam. We took the countryside tour with Ties who was efficient and patient with our family of 5. We stopped by for lunch at a nice little cafe out in the countryside. We learned a lot about the history of Amsterdam and the surrounding region while also getting some exercise on a safe bike ride around! Thank you!

Great ride through Dutch countryside!
Lucas was a great tour guide! He kept us paced together, mindful of where we were at all times. His knowledge of the history and geography of the Netherlands and all of our stops on the tour was incredibly informative and left us feeling full and enlightened. He held good conversation and made us all feel very welcome and comfortable. Would definitely recommend
Response from the operator: Thanks a lot for the praise! We'll let Lucas know. Come tour with us again!

Lovely ride but please update your bikes!
Beautiful 4 hour ride across northern Amsterdam villages and rural landscape. Great variety of scenery. Jan was an outstanding guide — very knowledgeable and considerate. Yellow bikes staff were also outstanding. Our principal reservation was the quality of the bikes — old, heavy one speed cruisers with pedal brakes that are difficult to use in tight start/ stop city traffic and not flexible at all for rural stretches of the journey. Yellow bikes urgently needs to modernize its inventory and retire these venerable relics.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We’re very happy to hear that you enjoyed the beautiful countryside route, the variety of scenery, and that Jan made your experience memorable with his knowledge and care. We’ll be sure to pass on your kind words to him and the team. We also appreciate your honest comments about the bikes. Our traditional yellow city bikes have been part of our tours for many years and are chosen for their comfort, simplicity, and authentic Amsterdam cycling experience. That said, we understand that personal preferences and cycling conditions can vary, especially on routes that combine city traffic with longer rural stretches. Thank you again for joining us and for sharing your thoughts. We hope to welcome you back for another ride in Amsterdam in the future!

Why this scores 72
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Amsterdam Countryside and Villages Bike Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Amsterdam.
How much does Amsterdam Countryside and Villages Bike Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $36 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Amsterdam usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Amsterdam Countryside and Villages Bike Tour take?
+
Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Amsterdam is not rushed.
Is Amsterdam Countryside and Villages Bike Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 72 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 31 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Amsterdam, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Amsterdam Countryside and Villages Bike Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Amsterdam Countryside and Villages Bike Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Amsterdam Countryside and Villages Bike Tour?
+
Around 11 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Amsterdam can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Amsterdam and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Amsterdam Countryside and Villages Bike Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Amsterdam within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Amsterdam?
+
On Outty we rank every Amsterdam experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Amsterdam Canal Cruise with Local Guide and Small Group, Guided Bike Tour of Amsterdam's Highlights & Hidden Gems, Amsterdam: Luxury Canal Cruise including Cocktails & Snacks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Amsterdam?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Amsterdam?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
