Buggy we had a great...
Buggy we had a great day. The tour driver at the waterfall was very rude and needs to learn how to talk to people; besides that, the waterfall was great. The buggies were very good and fun; the driver of the waterfall tour was a bit rude and needs to improve how he expresses himself with people; other than that, the waterfalls were very good.

Super fun
I went with family and we had a blast with Daniela, and the team. We did the hike to the waterfalls and buggy ride, stopped for some delicious local food and at some shops. There were a lot of people at the waterfalls so it was often a bit of a bottleneck situation, to prioritize safety and keep groups together. We were delayed for our buggy experience and unfortunately could only spend 1 hour doing that before we had to wash off and race to get back on our cruise ship, but we were right on time and really enjoyed everything !

Great experience, full day
We had a wonderful experience from start to finish with this excursion! We were picked up promptly by Will and Daniela and had a half hour drive in an air conditioned bus to the waterfalls. We were a little confused about the time directions, so it’s important to know they mean Dominican Republic time for the initial meet up. They gave us to a tour guide immediately when we got to the waterfalls and we were fitted for helmets and life jackets. We had a 30-45 minute hike up to the waterfalls with beautiful scenery. It would be a little difficult for those with low mobility. There were 3 water slides and an option to jump 17 FT or take a slide down. We were unable to stand in the trip between each slide, but the life jackets made it easy to get to the next location. There were people available with cameras for a small fee to take pictures ($45) and video of the adventure. We then were picked up and taken to a local lunch spot where we had delicious local cuisine. Next we went to a cigar/coffee/beverage and trinket shop. Then we took the air conditioned bus about 10-15 minutes away to the buggy location. Our tour guide Willie was wonderful and showed us how to safely use the buggy and gave us helmets, goggles, and bandanas. It was just us and our guide on the trails at this time, since it was a little later in the afternoon, so we had a blast going in puddles and on muddy trails. We then took the buggy to the beach and got to ride on the sand and wash off in the ocean. We also had a photographer for this part of the excursion who took video and photos for another small fee ($45). We got to ride for about an hour, and then our driver came back for us to take us back to the port. They were very good at keeping us on time so that we could get back to our ship in plenty of time. It was a wonderful experience I would highly recommend.

Why this scores 57
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Amber Cove, Taino Bay Waterfalls and Buggy with Local Food Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Puerto Plata.
How much does Amber Cove, Taino Bay Waterfalls and Buggy with Local Food Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $290 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Puerto Plata usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Amber Cove, Taino Bay Waterfalls and Buggy with Local Food Tour take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Puerto Plata is not rushed.
Is Amber Cove, Taino Bay Waterfalls and Buggy with Local Food Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 57 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Puerto Plata, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Amber Cove, Taino Bay Waterfalls and Buggy with Local Food Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Amber Cove, Taino Bay Waterfalls and Buggy with Local Food Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Amber Cove, Taino Bay Waterfalls and Buggy with Local Food Tour?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Puerto Plata can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Puerto Plata and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Amber Cove, Taino Bay Waterfalls and Buggy with Local Food Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Puerto Plata within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Puerto Plata?
+
On Outty we rank every Puerto Plata experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Monkeyland and Zipline Adventure from Puerto Plata, Monkeyland Puerto Plata, Puerto Plata Highlights City Tours from amber cove and Taino bay. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Puerto Plata?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Puerto Plata?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
