Some good points but a lot of work to be done.
Overall it was fine but will summarise the positives and negatives (+/-) below. + Well organsed. Staff all spoke good English, were careful to make sure of passenger comfort and safety at all times. + Lunch was excellent. There was a wide variety of fresh food to cater for most tastes. + The pick-up driver from Ha Noi was very good; smooth driver, efficient, polite and careful. The coach was modern and comfortable and with working seat belts. - The breakfast was pretty ordinary. Hotel style pho ga and/or croissant. - Drinks all have to be paid for and at very high prices (with the exception of a cup of tea or coffee after lunch, and a dentist style paper cup half-full of water after a return from excursions). Being asked to pay (at twice the street value) for juices, tea or coffee that are offered around by trolley when you get in for breakfast feels mean and sets a bad feeling from the start. It looked to take most of the passengers by surprise and surely can be accommodated within the price. - The excursions (while arranged professionally) look to follow the itinerary of practically every other cruise on the water (and there are a lot of cruises). Meaning passengers are brought to Sung Sot cave (worth it) and Ti Top island (not worth it) at the same time as thousands of others. - There is no quiet outdoor space that is non-smoking. The only space outside on the same deck where passengers are seated contains 2 tables and 4 sun loungers. These are almost always populated by smokers. The above decks are more spacious, but dance music is played constantly and at ear-bleed volume. Meaning that the only quiet, non-smoking space is inside. A non-smoking section of the deck and a break from the music would be very welcome. - When inside, if you do not get allocated a table next to the windows your view is obstructed by fellow passengers. - The boat does not really cruise so much as head slightly toward the islands in the bay, then come back again. Excursions take you slightly further into the group of islets but nothing like as far as hoped. Maybe this is a matter of license and the authorities protecting the bay though.

Better on a smaller boat.
Booked Ambassador as it was a large, modern boat which would be safe. The issue is that it is too big to drop you at caves etc so you need to transfer to a tender. This is a hazardous process . It would be safer to book a smaller boat to avoid using tenders.
Response from the operator: Thanks so much for your feedback, Brian Miller We are so happy that you enjoyed the Ambassador Cruise Luxury Halong Bay Day Cruise The Ambassador is a very big cruise, we have more space to relax on the boat, but it cannot approach Sung Sot cave as small boats, so we need tenders to get on the island to visit the cave. We will have 50 - 60 minutes to visit the cave. And we have other cruises which are smaller so we do not need the tenders. Thanks again for joining us. Have a nice time in Vietnam! Best regards, Luong

Why this scores 50
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Ambassador Day Cruise: Discover The Beauty of Halong Bay: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Hanoi.
How much does Ambassador Day Cruise: Discover The Beauty of Halong Bay cost?
+
Prices start at $75 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Hanoi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Ambassador Day Cruise: Discover The Beauty of Halong Bay take?
+
Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Hanoi is not rushed.
Is Ambassador Day Cruise: Discover The Beauty of Halong Bay worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 50 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Hanoi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Ambassador Day Cruise: Discover The Beauty of Halong Bay?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Ambassador Day Cruise: Discover The Beauty of Halong Bay suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 2. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 7-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Ambassador Day Cruise: Discover The Beauty of Halong Bay?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hanoi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hanoi and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Ambassador Day Cruise: Discover The Beauty of Halong Bay start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Hanoi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Hanoi?
+
On Outty we rank every Hanoi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Ninh Binh Day Trip from Hanoi with Tam Coc or Trang An & Mua Cave, Ha Giang Loop Tour 4 Days 3 Nights with Ha Giang Vision Tour, Halong Bay Day Tour With Titop Island, Cave, Kayak & Lunch. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Hanoi?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Hanoi?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
