It's a long day but worth it!
It was a super long day but we had a fantastic guide (Gonzalo) and driver (Bismark) team. Firstly, it's a long day so make sure you have a decent breakfast and bring a snack to keep you going as lunch isn't until later in the day. Also bring water shoes for the cenote, at least 1ltr-1.5lts of water and a UV umbrella for Chichen Itza to keep the sun from burning you as there's very little shade. If you don't want to bring an umbrella you can rent one for 80 MXN pesos or $5 USD at the entrance of Chichen Itza. Overall, this was a good tour and worth the £42 I paid upfront, however a 'conservation fee' (750 MXN) wasn't included nor the life jacket rental (100 MXN or 5 USD) for the cenote so I had to pay that to the guide. Just FYI, be prepared to question extra costs as I was quoted 750 MXN through WhatsApp as my unpaid balance but asked for over 900 MXN on the day - I showed the message to verify and this was resolved. I did also send a message through WhatsApp to the tour operator to confirm all the final costs but this was never answered. Also if you pay the extra charge for the all inclusive package you get a sandwich and drink first thing, then drinks after the first stop, 2 drinks with lunch and then drinks after Chichen Itza. Otherwise you have to buy drinks at the cenote, with lunch (about 70 MXN for a bottle of Coke) and at Chichen Itza. The guide, Gonzalo was knowledgeable about the Mayan culture and he made the trip to the first stop of the cenote go quickly with a cultural lesson on the Mayans including pictures. I'm unsure if the tour was organised very well because we went to the cenote first then lunch then Chichen Itza then Valladolid. This meant we were at Chichen Itza at the hottest part of the day so we baked in 40 degree heat...I think it would have been better to go straight to Chichen Itza in the morning, then lunch then Valladolid and finally the Cenote. The tour is worth it as it was very centred around learning about Mayan culture - not sure if this was because of the guide or not but it was an interesting angle.

Intense, informative day! I recommend
Very nice visit at an affordable price. The guide was super, very friendly and really cultured. He taught us a lot about this wonder of the world, which made the visit even more interesting. The visit to the cenote was beautiful to see, a real pleasant moment. On the other hand, the lunch food was correct but a little average. Small downside however: it is a pity that there was no French interpreter, contrary to what is indicated on the site. Despite this, I definitely recommend this visit. Thank you for this great experience!

Too much money for too little experience
They try to pack too much into the day. Stops prior to Chichen Itza were more tourist traps then anything else. Spent more money on the early tour with a max of 15 people that was really 15 people on a van before you all piled on the bus to go on the actual tour. Felt misled and rushed. Mayan Village buffet lunch could have been 1 hour instead of 2, Chichen Itza was only 2 hours and Cenote was 1 hour (it takes at least 30 minutes to get a locker, life vest (which is mandatory) then you are left with 30 minutes to enjoy the water and get re-dressed before the bus leaves you. Was asked by a staff member on the bus for an addl $120 for taxes. It states in the fine print-taxes are an addl $20 per person totalling for us $60, we were lucky enough to prove this to the tour guide with our smart phone in the middle of the jungle-or argue and become snake food. Final stop was Valladolid for 20 minutes. Back home at 10pm. Paying extra for early bird special, being asked to pay more on the bus, and feeling pushed to spend/tip at additional locations makes me wish I had talked to a real tour guide first. There are a lot of awesome things to see where I don't feel taken advantage of. Viator should not allow listings for misleading tours i.e. early bird special, 15 person tour, be back early, be first to chichen itza etc... none of that was true but that is the price that was paid. should have at least booked cheapest tour. it's the same.

Highlight of our trip
We did the Chichen Itza classic tour and highly enjoyed it. The first stop is the colonial city of Valladolid where you have about 30 minutes to use the restroom, explore the city square and buy souvenirs. We then drove to Ik Kil Cenote where we had an hour for lunch and an hour to swim in the cenote/explore. I would recommend renting a life jacket as the cenote is 200 feet deep! You can rent lockers to store your valuables while you are swimming. There are also nice restrooms to change in when you are finished. A meal at the restaurant is included in the tour but we did need to pay for drinks. I would recommend having some pesos on hand for this as that is how the prices were listed. Finally, we arrived at Chichen Itza (just down the road from the cenote). The tour provides you with an ice cold bottle of water and a lanyard to attach it to for your tour. Our tour guide Santos was amazing and provided us with a unique perspective as he is Mayan himself. Be aware that Chichen Itza is overrun with vendors. The moment we stepped off the tour bus a man was placing a hat on my husband's head and asking for $5. We stayed in Cancun so it did take 3 hours each way on a bus to do this tour, but it was 100% worth it. We are looking forward to taking another Xcaret tour the next time we are in Mexico!

Xichen Deluxe
We went for the deluxe tour that included the Chichen Itza tour as well as a visit to a Cenoté. This also included breakfast and lunch on the tour. The breakfast was a ham and cheese sandwich, juice box and cupcake. It was ok. The lunch was at a buffet restaurant which was pretty good at La Casona in Valladolid where the Zací Cenoté is. They have a large selection and the service was great. Overall a great value.
