A fabulous adventure
We had a wonderful time our guide LG was lovely and ensured we were well looked after. The trip itself was so much fun. We stopped at the Shakti temple and took photos, and then we stopped at the monkeys at the lookout - this was such a moment! We then travelled to the river side and ate dinner - great food with great taste but we did end up with a chicken beak in the dish!!! Gave us a good laugh though… the boat trip was the highlight. Super fast in the pitch black with a big hit of adrenaline! We had some fun trying to get the photo luminous plankton into fishing nets and then went to the fireflies. I really enjoyed this trip it was well worth the money but fyi the fireflies look like twinkling Christmas lights and the plankton is variable day to day

Underwhelming trip
It was a disappointing experience. The pickup was timely and fine. The tour guide/driver didn’t talk much and didn’t share a lot of information on the stops. We arrived really early for the Fireflies part so had to eat at a nearby restaurant. It just seemed disorganized. The fireflies part was right before sunset so it was still decent outside. Had to really look for them. The Blue wave part was very disappointing. The photos make it look like the river is lit up, but it’s not. It’s in the net as you gather the plankton. It’s cool but not as fantastic as it appears in pictures. It’s the first time I have been disappointed in a tour.
Response from the operator: > Thank you for taking the time to share your honest feedback. We’re sorry to hear that the tour did not meet your expectations. We appreciate your positive comments about the timely pickup, and we’re sorry that the communication, organization, and overall experience fell short. > > We understand your comments regarding the fireflies and Blue Tears experience. These are natural phenomena, and the visibility can vary depending on conditions such as timing, weather, and the activity of the fireflies or plankton. However, we appreciate your feedback and will continue working to improve the tour experience and provide clearer expectations for our guests. > > Thank you again for your comments, as they help us improve our service for future travelers.

Why this scores 71
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Amazing Fireflies With Blue Tears Watching & Kuala Selangor Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kuala Lumpur.
How much does Amazing Fireflies With Blue Tears Watching & Kuala Selangor Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $30 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kuala Lumpur usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Amazing Fireflies With Blue Tears Watching & Kuala Selangor Tour take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kuala Lumpur is not rushed.
Is Amazing Fireflies With Blue Tears Watching & Kuala Selangor Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 71 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.1/5 across 213 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kuala Lumpur, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Amazing Fireflies With Blue Tears Watching & Kuala Selangor Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Amazing Fireflies With Blue Tears Watching & Kuala Selangor Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Amazing Fireflies With Blue Tears Watching & Kuala Selangor Tour?
+
Around 75 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kuala Lumpur can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kuala Lumpur and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Amazing Fireflies With Blue Tears Watching & Kuala Selangor Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kuala Lumpur within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Kuala Lumpur?
+
On Outty we rank every Kuala Lumpur experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sambal Streets Kuala Lumpur Food Tour with 15+ Tastings, Genting Highland & Batu Cave Guided Day Tour (SIC/Shared Tour), Private Half-Day Batu Caves and Cutural Tour in Kuala Lumpur. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Kuala Lumpur?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Kuala Lumpur?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
