Get ready for an extremely early takeoff time for this 12-hour private tour to Agra from Delhi. Be picked up at 2:30am from your hotel or the airport — it’s your choice. Sit back in your private vehicle, and relax. The ride from Delhi to Agra takes about three hours. Once you arrive in Agra, you’re in for a treat. Your first stop is at the Taj Mahal, and you'll be just in time for sunrise. See just how stunning the majestic palace looks under the beautiful rising sun before you head out with your guide on a tour of the grounds. Take a break at nearby hotel where breakfast is served for you and your private group. Next up is the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Agra Fort. Admire the red sandstone the fort’s made out of as your guide fills you in on the history of the Mughal Dynasty’s former imperial residence. Your last excursion in the city includes free time to shop for souvenirs (own expense). Agra is well known for its intricate handicrafts and embroidery work. Sunrise tour of the Taj Majal with Agra tour
On a 10 day private tour of India. This is day 3 which is just Agra. Our guide today was Zadee (sp). We booked the entire 10 day tour through Yoganshi Tours so they hire each guide from the local tour guides for each city we visit. Zadee was excellent. His knowledge of the history of the area is remarkable. His English is excellent and although there are times when the accent makes it difficult to understand, Zadee speaks slowly enough you have time to understand him. I loved that. We visited the Taj Mahal at sunrise which I highly recommend because it’s cool in the mornings. We spent 2 hours on the grounds. Took a myriad of pictures. Hated to leave….its just so spectacular! After our two hour visit to the Taj Mahal we went back to the hotel for breakfast. Hotel breakfast buffets don’t usually open til 6:30 so there’s no time to eat before you head out to the Taj for the sunrise. So you have a break for an hour and a half. Then headed out again. We also visited the Baby Taj and the garden which is also lovely and no crowds. The Agra fort is incredible as it was also the living quarters ( kings, queens, etc) within the fortified grounds. Had a stop at an artisan shop where they still make the inlaid marble with semi precious stones exactly how the Taj Mahal designs were done. Of Course they want you to buy. But you can say no. We opted not to go to a tapestry demonstration and a leather place as we had been up since 5:30 for the sunrise. Again I recommend seeing the Taj at Sunrise or as early as you can after that. It gets pretty hot! Also keep in mind that the Taj is closed on Fridays so plan accordingly. Great tour. Hope you ask for Zadee.
