    Excellent alternative to cruise excursion

We booked this excursion through GetYourGuide because it offered nearly the same experience as the cruise line’s Berlin excursion, but cost approximately $100 less per person. It also guaranteed that we would return to the ship on time, with a refund if our ship was unable to dock. We arrived back at the port about two hours before sailing, so we never felt rushed or concerned about missing the ship. The air-conditioned coach was waiting when we disembarked, just like the cruise line’s excursion buses. We chose the option that included a guided tour in Berlin, and our guide, Anne, provided detailed explanations as we visited many of the city’s major points of interest. The weather was rainy, so having a bus tour was especially helpful. We could get off when we wanted to take pictures, but we could also remain comfortably on the bus when we did not want to stand outside in the rain. After several days of walking with sore feet, legs and backs, it was a welcome break. We still saw and photographed many of Berlin’s highlights without having to walk continuously for four hours. There were bathroom breaks during both the journey to Berlin and the return trip, along with free time for lunch and souvenir shopping. We also appreciated being able to sleep on the bus in both directions. The only downside was that the coach did not have charging ports, so I recommend bringing a portable charger. Otherwise, this was an excellent and affordable alternative to the cruise line’s expensive excursion. I would definitely recommend it to other cruise passengers visiting Berlin from Warnemünde.
