    5. Rising majestically next to the Generalife, the Water Tower stands as a silent testament to the Alhambra's ingenious water management. Unlike its defensive companions, this tower did not seek to repel enemies, but rather to embrace a vital resource: the water of the Darro River.

    6. On the walk along the outside of the Alhambra wall there are several towers and a gate: the Gate of the Seven Floors, one of the four exterior gates of the enclosure. This door gave access to the upper area of the Medina of the Alhambra, an area of the palace city with a fundamentally artisanal character. Built in the 14th century on a previous one, it was partially destroyed, like this entire sector of the wall, by the blowing up of Napoleonic troops in their retreat from the fortress in 1812. The door could be rebuilt in the sixties of the last century, thanks to the compilation of old engravings and photographs. The circular bastion located in front of it is the protagonist of one of Washington Irving's "Tales of the Alhambra".

Fabulous Tour with Wonderful Guide, a Must See!

This was a fabulous tour with a wonderful guide. Enrique was very knowledgeable and informative. He picked us up on time (even a little early) and drove us to Alhambra, pointing out natural and historic points of interest along the way while providing history of the region. At Alhambra, we didn’t have to wait in any queues and Enrique gave us a lot of history of the leaders, people, religious groups and military actions that led to what we see today. He pointed out many details of construction including the reasons that certain changes were made by each group that occupied areas of the structures and changes that occurred due to religious beliefs and military actions. There were many details that we would’ve missed with a group. Enrique was very accommodating, pleasant, personable, fluent in English, and was very easy to understand. We highly recommend this private tour and specifically Enrique as the guide.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're so happy to know that you enjoyed the Alhambra sunset tour so much and that you enjoyed Enrique's company and explanations. We've taken note of your comment about the nature of the tour. Indeed, sometimes, if the minimum number of people for a group tour isn't met, we end up offering the experience privately at no additional cost to ensure our clients enjoy the visit as planned. We're glad this allowed you to appreciate the details of the Alhambra even more. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back on another of our experiences in the future. Greetings from Granada! The Team Discovering Spain
