Catacombs Of Kom El Shoqafa
At 7:00 am, we will pick you up from your hotel and head straight to Alexandria, where we will spend the next two and a half hours traveling by highway to get to our starting point "Kom El Shoqafa" in Alexandria. Kom El Shoqafa contains a collection of tombs, statues, and archaeological artifacts associated with the Pharaonic funeral mortuary cults and Hellenistic and early Imperial Roman influences. Because of the time, many of the characteristics of Kom El Shoqafa's catacombs combine Roman, Greek, and Egyptian cultural points; some statues are Egyptian in style but wear Roman clothes and hairstyles, while others share a similar style. A circular staircase descends into the tombs tunneled into the bedrock during the Antonine emperors' reign. (2nd century AD)From the 2nd to the 4th centuries, the building was used as a burial chamber before being rediscovered in 1900.

Pompey's Pillar
It will be the secondary attraction. The Pompey Pillar's moniker is deceptive. Gaius Pompey, a Roman general, and consul, was a rival of Julius Caesar in a civil war and was assassinated by a Ptolemaic pharaoh in 48 BC as he escaped to Alexandria. This single column, perched on a rocky hilltop in the center of Alexandria, has nothing to do with him. Crusaders believed his grave was marked by a 100-foot (30-meter) red Aswan granite pillar, which is how this tale started. The pillar is a triumphal monument built for the Roman Emperor Diocletian in 300 AD. During the visit, the site will be admired from the outside only, making it an ideal stop without requiring entrance fees. The real importance of this archaeological site lies in what was before the pillar: the Serapeum, Alexandria's acropolis.

Citadel of Qaitbay
The third stop will be this. In Alexandria, Egypt, on the Mediterranean Sea the coast, stands the 15th-century defensive fortress known as the Citadel of Qaitbay or the Fort of Qaitbay. In 1477 AD (882 AH), Sultan Al-Ashraf Sayf al-Din Qa'it Bay founded it. The Citadel is located at the mouth of the Eastern Harbour on the eastern edge of Pharos Island's northern tip.

Bibliotheca Alexandrina
We will visit the world's largest library: "Bibliotheca Alexandrina", which currently has 8 million Books. Visit its open court to see the statues of Ptolemy the First and Alexander the Great, which were both discovered close underwater. You will go to "The President Sadat Museum" and the "Alexandria Museum of Impressions. Please note that the Alexandria Library is closed on Friday and legal holidays. You will need to buy a ticket to access the reading section. Finally, we will travel to the beginning location for around 2.5 hours on the highway.

Nightmare drive to Alexandria
The tour itself was amazing. Our tour guide Alaa was very kind and knowledgeable. She made the entire trip worth it for us. The low rating was due to the transportation to Alexandria from Cairo. The car that picked us up in Cairo was not safe to drive even by Egypt standards. There was only one seatbelt in the rear and every check light on the dashboard was on. Once we got up to highway speeds the every panel in the car was rattling and the engine hood shot up and smashed the entire windshield. It sounded like a gunshot went off in the car. My wife and I, and the driver for that matter, could have all died. The driver had to look through the small gap under the hood (as it was stuck to the broken windshield) in order to pull over safely. Glass shot into the car but thankfully everyone was okay. Another car was not offered we were instead forced to continue the trip to Alexandria where the driver got a new windshield installed. This delayed our tours significantly. I would recommend doing this tour as the tour itself was great but I would arrange my own travel. The operator of this tour does not seem to care about client safety and no refund or apology for that matter was offered.

The tour was completed, all entrance tickets and lunch costs included in the agreed package were paid, and the guests were transferred to their hotel. When the transportation incident occurred, the windshield was replaced as soon as possible, although this caused a delay to the itinerary. We take customer safety seriously and understand the importance of reliable transportation. However, following the incident, the customer requested a refund, which we did not approve. The one-star review was posted after this disagreement. We respect every customer's right to share their experience, but we believe reviews should reflect the full context of the service provided, including the activities completed and the services paid for by our company. We appreciate the customer's positive comments about our guide, Alaa, and her knowledge and professionalism.

Alexandria, the driver and guide were amazing!! Beware the hidden fees…
The trip to Alexandria was great! The drive from Cairo was smooth and Mohammed was an excellent driver! When we arrived we met our guide and she handled the tour with knowledge and fun! I would absolutely recommend a visit to Alexandria if you have a day or if you have a long layover in Cairo!! ******PLEASE NOTE******* This operator does not allow for airport pick up when setting up the reservation. If you want the airport they will message you and tell you there is a $15 USD per person fee each way. They called it an airport charge. THIS CHARGE IS NOT REAL. Our “all in” price was $451.00 Canadian for two people. The round trip of $60 USD added another $84 Canadian to our experience. All this before gratuity. Do yourself a favour and either meet at a hotel or find a different booking site or company Viator uses for the trip to avoid the hidden fees. Go to Alexandria…it’s a beautiful look into Greco/Roman Egypt!

Well guided tour of Alexandria
We needed to be back in Cairo earlier than the trip to Alexandria warranted, and Shaimaa, our fantastic guide for the day, was set a really hard task by us to cram in our sightseeing. She rose to the challenge brilliantly. We had a great tour of Alexandria. Shaimaa is incredibly knowledgable and thoughtful. The additional background and stories that she wove into her narrative were fantastic. She is highly articulate as well as highly knowledgable and spoke clearly, at pace and at just the right volume. We learned so much. The catacombs are a remarkable melding of cultures and traditions and the library, like the GEM, an impressive modern Egyptian monument. Thank you Shaimaa for all your patience and knowledge. Also thanks to Omar for being so responsive on text and dealing with the pickup misunderstanding so promptly.
