    What you'll see and do

    1. Akrotiri Archaeological Site

Discover the prehistoric city of Akrotiri through a fun and engaging family friendly treasure hunt, specially designed for children and their parents. On this private tour, kids become junior archaeologists, solving simple missions, spotting clues, and uncovering how people lived in one of the most advanced civilizations of the ancient world. Through play, observation, and storytelling, the archaeological site comes to life . While children enjoy the interactive treasure hunt, parents benefit from a guided visit, learning about Akrotiri’s architecture, technology, daily life, and the dramatic volcanic eruption that preserved the city for thousands of years. The experience is relaxed, and flexible to the family’s rhythm, making it ideal for children aged 5–12. At the end of the tour, young explorers receive a small reward for completing their mission. This is not just a visit to an archaeological site — it’s a shared family experience where learning feels like an adventure.

    Very informative, great tour

Georgia was great. So knowledgeable and so good with the kids. Playing games with them and patient with all of our questions. Highly recommend if you have kids, we otherwise wouldn't have gotten all the information we did.

The only way to experience Akrotiri!

We were lucky enough to have Georgia fit us in for a private guided tour of Akrotiri at the last minute. She was kind enough to arrange round-trip transportation to the site and meet us there. Our tour flew by as Georgia (an officially licensed guide) provided fascinating details about Akrotiri, supplemented by images on her iPad to help us understand the history and significance behind the ruins and ongoing excavation. The archeological site provides very little signage and information, so having a tour with someone of Georgia’s caliber was really necessary. If you’re planning to visit the site, it’s so worth it to have Georgia bring it all to life for you!

    An Excellent Tour of Akrotiri

My wife and I had a fabulous and informative private tour of Akrotiri with Georgia Dimas in May 2024. Georgia has expert level knowledge of Akrotiri. Her use of media on her tablet added to the tour’s quality. Georgia is very personable and she speaks fluent English Her presentation was very well crafted and she was responsive in reply to our many questions. The pace of the 90 minute tour was very comfortable. We highly recommend Georgia to lead your tour of Akrotiri and we suspect her tours of other sights in Santorini and Athens would be equally great.

    Akrotiri Visit

Seeing the pottery with the original drawings that the archeologists were able to preserve. Enjoyed learning about how the ancient community adapted to have access to water.

    Seeing how people lived...

Seeing how people lived thousands of years ago, water, art, homes, streets, furnishings, it was incredible. The downside is our guide went through quite quickly, walking past some sights that we would liked to have paused to ask questions and learn more.

Response from the operator: I am really sorry you didn’t enjoy your visit, there are specific stops along the site where we usually stop but if you wanted to stop in a certain spot you could have asked me. And of course if you had questions you should have asked me , I always ask along the tour and at the end if there are any questions. The tour lasts around one hour and I always spend more time there with my tours depending on their interest and questions. I am sorry you didn’t enjoy your tour and you didn’t ask questions when you had me there . I take very seriously my clients feedback and that’s why I have very good reviews in every platform I am registered and people choose me for my reviews. So I would really appreciate it if you could let me know where was it that I didn’t stop and I will be more than happy to answer by email any questions you might have. Kind regards Georgia

Akrotiri by a licensed guide: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Santorini.

How much does Akrotiri by a licensed guide cost?

    +

Prices start at $414 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Santorini usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Akrotiri by a licensed guide take?

    +

Plan for about 1.7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Santorini is not rushed.

Is Akrotiri by a licensed guide worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 53 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 15 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Santorini, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Akrotiri by a licensed guide?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Akrotiri by a licensed guide suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1.7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Akrotiri by a licensed guide?

    +

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Santorini can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Santorini and add a light layer if any part of the 1.7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Akrotiri by a licensed guide start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Santorini within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Santorini?

    +

On Outty we rank every Santorini experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Half Day Premium Catamaran Cruise in Santorini including Oia, Private Santorini Tailor Made - Choice of the Guest!, Private Classic Santorini Panorama: Visit Top Destinations. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Santorini?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Santorini?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
