Church closed on Torcello island, only 40 min on murano

Disappointed at how this tour is run. First, they don’t tell you the church and museum on torcello island is not open til you get on the boat. There’s no point in going to Torcello without that, I know it’s under repair but you should be able to see some of the mosaics if you can get in. Though it’s somewhat unclear if that church was really closed that day or we just showed up too late—I can see posts of the interior from visitors from earlier that day. Second, there were only 40 minutes on murano, and since you spend 15 at a glass demo there’s just enough time to dart into a few of the closest shops before you have to go back to the boat. We were told it’d be an hour there before booking. If murano had been the last stop I’d have just stayed and found my own way home but alas it was the first. Plus the glass factory they take you to has a lot of cheap non-murano made glass—you need to go out to find the authentic stuff. Burano was fine, though again we showed up too late to go to the lace museum as it had just closed. At the first stop they added a bunch of people so it was crowded and not all could sit. Tour guide was fine if not really saying a lot. But we were on the boat for hours for barely any time and multiple closed sites. It just needs to be better run. Go on your own or book a better reviewed operator.

Response from the operator: Dear customer, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are sorry to hear that the tour did not fully meet your expectations. We would like to clarify a few points. The opening hours of churches, museums, and cultural sites on the islands are managed by external authorities and may occasionally change due to maintenance, temporary closures, or other operational reasons. We always do our best to provide the scheduled itinerary, but we cannot guarantee access to locations that are not open or available on the day of the visit. Regarding Murano, the time allocated on the island follows the planned tour schedule and includes the glass-making demonstration, which is an important part of the experience and allows our guests to discover one of the island’s most famous traditions. We understand that some visitors may prefer more free time for shopping and exploring independently, but the duration of each stop is established in advance as part of the itinerary. The same applies to Burano and Torcello: the time available on each island follows the planned schedule, while visits to museums or specific attractions depend on their opening hours at the time of the tour. We are sorry if the group size affected your comfort during the first part of the excursion. During particularly busy periods, the number of participants may increase, but our team always works to ensure that the experience remains enjoyable and well managed for everyone. We are pleased to hear that you found our guide helpful and professional. We truly value all feedback from our guests and will continue working to improve our services and provide a pleasant and well-organized experience discovering the beautiful islands of the Venetian Lagoon. Kind regards, Consorzio Vidali Group

    Absent tour guide/biat

The boat never showed up at the dock number given. Called the number the given in case of problems and was told the boat would be there in minutes but never came. Would not use this company again

Response from the operator: Dear Customer, Thank you for your feedback. We are always available to help you determine the tour’s starting point and, in the event of a delay or cancellation, to reschedule it for another date. We hope to have you on board with us. Beautiful islands. Disappointing company

The islands themselves were beautiful and well worth the visit. However the customer service of this company was awful. We were booked on the 12 noon -6pm tour. The boat to collect us from Murano was late and as we were on our way to Burrano, it was announced that we wouldn’t be ending the tour until 8pm. We spoke with the guide who said that if we wanted to get back to Venice at original time we would have to arrange our own private taxi (which can cost €200). No reason was given for the change in times despite us saying which tour we’d booked onto and it clearly being they had combined us with the tour that was from 2pm-8pm (we were collected by a different boat and with a lot more people). When we tried to get an explanation and help, the door was slammed in our face and she refused to talk with us again until we approached her later at the next island. Here her response was she could do nothing. We had wedding anniversary dinner reservations which had to be cancelled and it really tainted our experience and visit to the islands. The lack of help and guidance was Extremely disappointing.

Response from the operator: Dear Customer, Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We are truly sorry that your day did not fully meet your expectations, especially as it was a special occasion. We would, however, like to clarify that the tour you booked ended only slightly later than the scheduled time. Unfortunately, as these excursions take place in the lagoon, minor variations may occur due to water traffic or other operational conditions that are not always predictable and are beyond our control. Regarding the return arrangements, our staff always strives to provide support and guidance to passengers in line with the service procedures. We regret if the communication was not perceived as clear or satisfactory. Our goal is to ensure a pleasant experience for all our guests, and we will certainly take your feedback into consideration to further improve our service and customer assistance. Do not use Viator

We were not met at the meeting point. We phoned up after 10 mins to say no-one had turned up and was told that the bust had left from a different platform to the meeting point. I explained that we were there but no-one came over with a Viator board and was told it was a different company that it had been outsourced to. How were we supposed to know the name of that Company? or know who to look out for. The whole thing was a shambles. I asked for a refund and was told No but that we could have a walking tour instead (less value) but that was of no use to us as we had limited time in Venice and had a full itinerary. Again I asked for a refund but no. I then got an email saying that the tour company had arrived at the port on time so it was our fault we’d missed the boat! We didn’t know who we were supposed to be looking for if not Viator. I would never use them again. Disgraceful behaviour and extremely poor customer service.

Response from the operator: Dear customer, Thank you for your comments. We're sorry you didn't fully appreciate the experience. A member of our team is always present at the meeting point well in advance of the boats' departure, to facilitate the arrival of all tour participants. We hope to see you again soon aboard our boats. Best regards, Consorzio Vidali Group

    Too much time spent in...

Too much time spent in glass factory in Murano. Not enough time in Burano. Could have spent the entire trip there.

Response from the operator: Dear Customer, thank you for your review, we will use your feedback to further improve our service. Greetings, Consorzio Vidali Group

Afternoon Lagoon Tour Murano, Burano, and Torcello: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Venice.

How much does Afternoon Lagoon Tour Murano, Burano, and Torcello cost?

    +

Prices start at $20 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Venice usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Afternoon Lagoon Tour Murano, Burano, and Torcello take?

    +

Plan for about 4.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Venice is not rushed.

Is Afternoon Lagoon Tour Murano, Burano, and Torcello worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 50 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.4/5 across 175 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Venice, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Afternoon Lagoon Tour Murano, Burano, and Torcello?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Afternoon Lagoon Tour Murano, Burano, and Torcello suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Afternoon Lagoon Tour Murano, Burano, and Torcello?

    +

Around 61 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Venice can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Venice and add a light layer if any part of the 4.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Afternoon Lagoon Tour Murano, Burano, and Torcello start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Venice within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Venice?

    +

On Outty we rank every Venice experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Pasta and Tiramisu Cooking Class with Wine in Venice, Eating Venice Small Group Food & Drinks Tour, Venice Bacaro Food Tour: Eat and Drink like a Venetian. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Venice?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Venice?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
