    Mixed experience

Sailing on the catamaran was overall a lovely experience however our experience sounds completely different to most of those posted below. I read the last review of 3 stars who sounded like they had the same issues as us. We had Jakob as our skipper. He was very experienced and moored the boats in some lovely spots but was generally disinterested in us and we felt like an inconvenience. We didn’t complain as that would have spoilt our trip and that of the lovely family who were on the boat with us. The trip was not as promised as we didn’t do half of the activities planned e.g the national park, cycling, walking tour, which was disappointing. Despite one of the other guests requesting several times that we anchor off shore overnight, we didn’t do this. I love dogs and have one myself but finding myself sitting in their urine on the front of the boat was not acceptable. Jakob allowed them to sit all over the seats and it was clear they were his top priority. I concur with the previous reviewer regarding the restaurants and when I suggested we might be happy with pizza one night, I was told that we were going to the fish restaurant firmly. I know this is the deal on lots of flotillas and boat cruises so I kind of expected this but I think we were led to believe we may have some choice. One of the other things that made for a good story but not a holiday experience was that Jakob got into arguments with other skippers and one of these nearly turned quite nasty. I could name many other things that took away from this experience however the Croatian scenery was gorgeous and the snorkelling spots he took us to were beautiful. We also had a lovely stewardess who was in training. Her English was amazing and she was very interesting to talk to. We had lovely company from the other family on the boat who were luckily as easy going as were. All in all a very mixed experience. I feel a bit cheated when I read the other fantastic reviews.

Combo of glorious sea, secret coves and lagoons with camping on water! Long review alert!

Sorry for long review! We had some amazing experiences and very lucky to see hidden Croatia by sea. The sea and water activities were stunning!! Unfortunately there were a number of negatives as set out below which did spoil it a but and given the costs of all the additional meals I do not think this trip is great value for money. It was an odd combination of being camping on water but then eating at high end restaurants twice day. The highlights were the Mjet National Park and e biking around the island and seeing the pine forests and lakes. Swimming, paddleboarding in secluded bays and coves. This trip came recommended by a friend who did it about 4 years ago but they had quite a different experience I think. I now understand there are two boats in the Huck Finn company and I think we had a different skipper and guide. We had Jakob (aka Jake) who was the owner I believe aged about 70. He showed no interest in us as people and I don't think he knew our names let alone any medical conditions. For example he called my son the wrong name even on the last morning. He never asked of we were ok or enjoying ourselves. He seemed very grumpy but we were eventually told by the other crew member that he was suffering with a medical issue and was in a lot of pain! In my view he should not have been doing this trip and seeing a doctor! The other crew was a young ish Serbian lady called Ivana who was nice and prepared the breakfast and did the walking tour and bike ride but spoke limited English and offered very limited information about what we were seeing and this was really only when asked. As a group we constantly had to ask Jakob where we were or what the the plan for the day was. We all understood the itinerary was flexible and weather dependent but it would have been good to have more idea of the plan each day without having to ask after breakfast. Having been with Responsible Travel to Croatia (with Green World Holidays) 2 years ago which was excellent (fairly basic but 5*) we had high expectations of customer service/guides which was no where near matched unfortunately on this holiday. Here are a list of things that unfortunately were not positive for us and other travellers should be aware of. - There is a 90 euro per person sustainability fee. Fine but when reading the details given after booking the trip it says this goes towards the cost of breakfast despite this supposedly being included in the cost of the trip. The boat does not even offer free bottled water. It was positive though that you could take own drinks and snacks on board. -Not great for families on a budget or even just wanting to have some flexibility with buying lunch (bread and cheese etc) or a pizza and having on the boat. Passengers not allowed in the kitchen area. There was no choice where to eat and we had to go to restaurants recommended by skipper who then got a free meal. Not only this, but it was 2 main meals a day so this took up about 4 hours a day eating meals. One meal took well over an hour for a feta salad to arrive. For a single parent and two teenage children this was adding up to £200 a day!!! -The food overall was very good apart with delicious fish and seafood. This was except from the second restaurant in Sipan on the last night which also happened to be my sons birthday. The skipper joined us after about 20 minutes (but he never really spoke to us during the meals and gave more attention to his dogs (see below) despite speaking English. His 3 course meal then arrived first which he tucked into vigorously while we all waited which I found very rude. When ours did arrive the prawn spaghetti that my children had contained 3 tiny prawns for 25/30 euro. . When I complained to Jakob he seemed annoyed and spoke to the waiter who just said it was the portion size and nothing could be done. Due to other things going on that day I left the table in tears and he did not ask if I was ok and had left the table by the time I returned. - Jakob brought 4 dogs (Yorkshire terriers) on the trip. Before sailing we were asked if we had any issues with dogs but I don't know what would have happened if anyone had and said they did. They were sweet and friendly but I did not think it was acceptable for them pooing and weeing on the deck and us having to tell the crew and then it just being washed down with water and a wipe rather than obvious disinfectant. they also barked at night on a few occasions which woke me up. - Triple cabin is very small and the single cone shaped room (which is behind double bed sleeping area through a small hatch) was very claustrophobic especially when I couldn't open the window on top when it was raining. Like being in a slightly larger MRI machine! - General lack of health and safety. No head counts. My son and I were left behind snorkelling on one occasion!! We had to clamber on to a speed boat who luckily was in the same bay and kindly helped. We belted it top speed after the boat and had to jump out into the middle of the deep ocean and clamber aboard our boat. Snorkels were not disinfected or even rinsed after use and just kept in a bucket of salt water which was not changed. Crew drank beer at lunch and dinner. - Deck was messy and cluttered as skipper was sleeping in the inner cabin and was his living quarters and the dogs slept on the sofas. - Out bathroom was very smelly of drains, even on day 1 and when not used. When I mentioned this to Jakob I was told he did not think it smelt. He later changed his view and just said he could not understand why this one smelt and none of the other did as if this was our fault. it seemed my sleeping area was above some kind of tank as it was like sleeping in a urinal at times. - Very little water let alone hot. My teenage daughter had the shortest shower possible for her to wash her hair and I heard the skipper complaining that she had used too much water. 2 of the group did not shower at all other than the outside tap so I don't know what would have happened if we all had. On the third night we completely ran out of water and had to take a detour to an island to get some in the morning. this meant breakfast was not served until 10am. We could not understand why there could have not been fruit and bread/cereal and just have tea/coffee later! - Sipan port was picturesque and small but still had a party boat/club that went on until 1 am and then we set sail for Mjet at 5am. Not much sleep. Last night went back to same port to eat but went further out and anchored but could still her the music in the distance. -Fortunately the 3 other people on the boat (a couple and single man) were great company and very positive people and they seemed ok with having children/young people. It should be made clearer though that there is no guarantee of another family on board (especially in the school summer holidays) to manage children expectations, and for those wanting an adult only holiday they may wish to be warned families may be on board.

An unforgettable sailing experience around the Elaphiti Islands!

It was an unforgettable sailing experience around the Elaphiti Islands! This was so much more than just a boat trip, it was a true adventure and an experience we could not have even dreamed of. Captain Željko and host Ivana created the perfect atmosphere, taking care of every detail and making us feel welcome from the very first moment. One of the most wonderful surprises were their four little Yorkshire terriers who live with them on the boat. They are the sweetest companions, playful, affectionate, and always ready to cuddle with guests. They even swim with you and bring such positive energy on board. Their presence has a truly therapeutic effect, making the whole experience even more relaxing and special for anyone looking to escape everyday stress. Ivana’s breakfasts were absolutely fantastic! Not only delicious but also beautifully prepared and decorated with so much care. In the afternoons, we enjoyed gin and tonics while watching breathtaking sunsets over the Adriatic. Captain Željko always made sure we stayed overnight in peaceful, hidden spots and took us swimming to turquoise beaches where, at that moment, there were no crowds — just crystal-clear sea and pure tranquillity. Every moment was thoughtfully planned, yet the journey still felt natural and authentic. We would wholeheartedly recommend this sailing experience to anyone looking for relaxation, adventure, beautiful nature, and unforgettable memories. Thank you, Željko and Ivana, for an incredible journey! We wish everyone could experience something like this!

Huck Finn delivered an AMAZING Experience!

Our 4-night Catamaran sail with Huck Finn Croatia was amazing! A huge thank you to our skipper, Marina, our host, Daria, and Mona, our host in training, for making the trip so special. They were friendly, fun, and went above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome. The itinerary was perfect, the boat was comfortable, and every stop was beautiful. It was truly one of the highlights of our Croatia vacation, and we highly recommend it!

Beautiful spots and a variety of activities

Skipper Jake was laidback and flexible. The tour is great for people who like the outdoors and an active lifestyle. You may struggle if you like home comforts. Hanging with the dogs was a bonus!

How much does Adventure Sailing 4 Night Dubrovnik Cruise on the Huck Finn Cat cost?

    +

Prices start at $805 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Dubrovnik usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Adventure Sailing 4 Night Dubrovnik Cruise on the Huck Finn Cat take?

    +

Plan for about 120 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Dubrovnik is not rushed.

Is Adventure Sailing 4 Night Dubrovnik Cruise on the Huck Finn Cat worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 71 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 106 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable outdoors in Dubrovnik, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Adventure Sailing 4 Night Dubrovnik Cruise on the Huck Finn Cat?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Adventure Sailing 4 Night Dubrovnik Cruise on the Huck Finn Cat suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 120-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Adventure Sailing 4 Night Dubrovnik Cruise on the Huck Finn Cat?

    +

Around 37 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Dubrovnik can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Dubrovnik and add a light layer if any part of the 120-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Adventure Sailing 4 Night Dubrovnik Cruise on the Huck Finn Cat start and how do I get there?

What are the best things to do in Dubrovnik?

    +

On Outty we rank every Dubrovnik experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Dubrovnik: Game of Thrones Walking Tour, Panorama Zipline Experience in Dubrovnik, Dubrovnik: 7 Caves & Blue Cave Speedboat Tour (4h). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Dubrovnik?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Dubrovnik?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
