Recommendations for people who want to climb snowy mountains
Great journey, I set out alone and my guide Kevin was very responsible. I know it takes five hours to get from Quito to Chimborazo, but along the way you can see the famous volcanoes and experience different central scenery. The climb takes one to two hours depending on physical strength, and we go from shelter one to shelter two, 5,033 metres. It's a little hard to climb, so make sure you wear good shoes. Temperatures in July are around zero, but windy near the summit. After coming down we went to lunch, in a warm mountaineer hostel, and the food was surprisingly good. Recommended for anyone who lives in Quito and wants to climb a snowy mountain, Chimborazo's history and scenery will never disappoint you.
Response from the operator: 非常感谢您分享您的体验!我们很高兴知道您在钦博拉索山的冒险如此愉快,并且您的向导凯文在整个行程中非常负责。 很高兴您欣赏到沿途美丽的风景、登山的挑战以及避难所的舒适和美味的餐食。您的推荐对计划从基多出发探索这座雄伟雪山的游客一定非常有帮助。 我们期待在未来再次为您提供Barak Travel的独特体验!

Excellent!!!!
Excellent Tour, beautiful views, the volcano is a beauty in every sense. It is well worth the effort to get to the ice part, it is very close to Laguna Cóndor. The guides were excellent, very friendly and made our experience the best.
Response from the operator: ¡Muchas gracias por compartir tu experiencia!

Do not recommend
This tour was disappointing from beginning to end, and I cannot recommend it to anyone. The good: The hike itself - a bit challenging due to the altitude and scree but overall a solid hike. No need for hiking boots, but a trailrunner or trail sneaker (something with good tread) would be ideal. Cold weather gear is a must. The hike takes up maybe 2 hours out of the entire trip. The bad: First, the way the tour is scheduled, we ended up leaving Quito probably around 7:30/8am or so, and did not reach the mountain until well after noon. Any hiker knows that you should ideally reach the mountain in the morning when the weather and clouds have not settled. We weren't even close. Could not see a thing. The company should schedule their pickups earlier and not allocate an hour for breakfast (way too long for eggs and bread). The lunch plan was... nonexistent. We drove around for 30+ minutes after leaving Chimborazo as the driver and guide could not find the lunch restaurant. It turned out that the company had picked a place that no one had ever heard of or been to (including the locals, who we pulled up alongside x3 to ask for directions). The company ultimately gave us a plan B, which was a restaurant that wasn't even open! They clearly had agreed to open up the place just for us as the lights hadn't even been turned on. The tour guide then told us that we had a stipend of $5 USD to spend on lunch and anything over that we would need to reimburse. There were not many things covered by a $5 stipend, so we had to top up on our lunch that should have been included in the "all-inclusive" tour cost. Last thing, our guide barely spoke to us the entire tour, preferring to speak to other travelers who knew Spanish. He did not provide much information to the group about Chimborazo, the local area, vicunas, Quito, Ecuador, etc. Most of the (long) van journey was silent. I was very excited for this tour, but unfortunately, it was a major letdown. I recommend that you consider other options before booking. Note: The booking states "This is a private tour/activity. Only your group will participate" but this is not accurate as there was another couple on our tour.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your advice and opinion of our tour. It is a shame that you have had this type of experience with us, we are always characterized by the quality of our service backed by the hundreds of travelers who have organized their trips and the very good comments they leave us. The start of the tour from Quito was between 5:30 and 6:00 am, so outside of Quito we were already at 7:00 am. At that time we were already in Cotopaxi, another province of Ecuador, where breakfast was. Unfortunately, being a tour that is not close to Quito does not allow us to arrive at the Mountain earlier, even so we try to arrive at the mountain before 11:00 am so that you can enjoy it. In any case, we will try to improve in this aspect so that they can spend as much time as possible in the mountains. Regarding lunch, the guide and driver took another route that did not allow us to reach the place designated for lunch since there are no good options to stop around the volcano. This tour has some challenges that we are constantly solving, we work with local service providers with training and recommendations to improve the quality of tourist services so you can enjoy this tour. Regarding the guide, we apologize for what happened, as a policy they always have to share with all travelers, clarify their doubts and respond to their requirements. That is why your comments are important to us in this way we improve as a company. Regarding the fact that they had to be accompanied by 2 more people, it was more thought of safety for our travelers since on the departure date there were safety recommendations from our local tourism authorities. They recommended that we carry out the operations with a single group to have better monitoring of our GPS system and to be attentive to what they will need. In any case, we will take all your recommendations and take this tour to a new level. Thank you for traveling with us and we are sorry for your experience. Kind Regards

Adventure in Chimborazo: Hiking and Ascent from Quito: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Quito.
How much does Adventure in Chimborazo: Hiking and Ascent from Quito cost?
+
Prices start at $71 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Quito usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Adventure in Chimborazo: Hiking and Ascent from Quito take?
+
Plan for about 12.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Quito is not rushed.
Is Adventure in Chimborazo: Hiking and Ascent from Quito worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 13 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Quito, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Adventure in Chimborazo: Hiking and Ascent from Quito?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Adventure in Chimborazo: Hiking and Ascent from Quito suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 5. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 12.5-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Adventure in Chimborazo: Hiking and Ascent from Quito?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Quito can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Quito and add a light layer if any part of the 12.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Adventure in Chimborazo: Hiking and Ascent from Quito start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Quito within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Quito?
+
On Outty we rank every Quito experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cotopaxi tour from Quito -horseback ride and hike-NO TOURISTY way, Baños Full Day Tour from Quito Including Entrances and Activities, Gastronomic and Cultural Walking Tour of Quito with Tastings. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Quito?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Quito?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
