A great experience in the Mekong Delta!
Our family had a fantastic time on the two day trip to the Mekong Delta! Bao and the whole team looked after us so well. We loved seeing and experiencing life in this part of the country. The biking and kayaking was a great way to enjoy it. The homestay was welcoming and comfortable. The communication with Countryside Adventures was excellent and answered all our questions so promptly. We highly recommend this tour!

Experience the Mekong Delta overnight via bike and kayak.
Hi - if you wish to get off the tourist track and experience local Vietnamese culture in the Mekong then this is the trip for you. We started on a local bus for 2 hours to the Mekong - an experience in itself. Then picked up our bikes - fab time cycling amongst the locals stopping to sample fruit from their garden and other local cuisine. On the afternoon we were on our own boat travelling up the Mekong followed by kayaking amongst the mangrove swamps. We stayed at a local homestead complete with a cooking lesson in the families kitchen. Day 2 started with 5am start to kayak on the Delta to watch the sunrise before heading back for breakfast via the local market - magical. Then off again cycling and catching the local ferry before catching the bus back to Saigon. K’Vien our guide was amazing - very friendly and keen to check we were enjoying ourselves and getting the most from the trip. We could not fault him at all and would happily travel with him again. Thank you K’Vien for a most memorable trip. Ps to note on day 2 you wear your rucksack on the bike so do not over pack!
Response from the operator: Hello Mark and Friends, Greetings from Countryside Adventures Team. Many thanks for your great review. Terrific two days!
There are at least two parts to this review. The first is about how much we enjoyed being led by Le and his organisation. My wife and I spent two days cycling with him and did an overnight homestay. He lived up to his stated goal of taking us to places out of the way so we could have experiences not normally accessible to tourists. We traveled on the back roads. We visited a market at 5am (Not a typo!) so we could see how a small community came together in their daily routine of buying and selling. He was clearly welcome by the locals and that friendliness extended to us. Our homestay was terrific. There happened to be another group there at the same time. They seemed like paying customers while the hosts treated us like family because we were with Le. The bikes were extraordinarily well-maintained and they were able to provide one that fit me (6’-4”). We had plenty to drink and eat along the way—again stopping at places where Le’s charm won over the owners which made our experience all that much richer. And the riding was fun. Nearly 100% of it was on back roads and paths that gave us a close up view of the homes and businesses of the people in the Delta. Two tiny ferry rides for island hopping and a third boat ride on the Delta waterway added to the fun. Plus we had door to door pickup at our hotel in HCMC. It was a great experience and we recommend the company highly. The second part of the review is what I would have done differently. I would have trained more to get in shape. Our trip was approximately 80k over two days but it was hot (95 degrees F and 60% humidity. ) Being in better shape would have made it a little bit more enjoyable. That’s my mistake and doesn’t reflect on the company. My wife was in better shape and didn’t have the same issues as I did. I would also suggest that you bring mountain biking shorts and gloves for the cushioning. (NOT lycra road shorts!) We choose not to bring ours to cut down on our packs but they would have been nice!
Response from the operator: Hello Chris & Kurt, Greetings from Countryside Adentures Team. Millions thanks with all your words will definetely make us a huge change in the future. Countryside Adventures Team is trying their best to offer the truely authentic Mekong for those who love to experience the Real daily life of the locals. All the best from Vietnam. Bait and Switch
This experience was, by far, the low point of our three week trip in SE Asia. Five days before the excursion, we were contacted and told that not enough people had booked the same trip so we would either need to change the date or pay $70 extra for a private tour. Since we had already booked hotels and flights around the previously booked date, we chose the private option. Then, the day before the trip we were told that more people had booked, but just as a day trip (we had booked an overnight trip) so we would still have to pay extra but a lesser amount. Also, we would be transported with the group via private van for the way there but would take public bus back to Ho Chi Minh City (the package was supposed to include private transport both ways.) Finally, the night before the trip, we were informed that because the other guests had booked the Bike, Boat and Kayak experience, we would be doing that as well, even though we were the first to book and had chosen Boat and Bike. The tour operator claimed this was an upgrade but if we had wanted to do that, we would have booked it in the first place. The tour itself was fine, the guide was very nice. However, after all the back and forth beforehand and unexpected changes, we felt uncomfortable about spending the night and relying on public bus, as we had a flight the next day. A warning on the biking portion; we were given very little information or instruction on the terrain we’d be on. It was often quite narrow, there were very many extremely narrow bridges with no railing and the ground was very muddy and slippery. Several members of the group fell down while riding in the mud but I don’t think the group leader noticed because he had ridden quite far ahead. I definitely recommend that you have a high comfort level with mountain/off road cycling if you choose this tour.
Response from the operator: Hello Miranda, Greetings from Countryside Adventures Team. Many thanks for your feedback and we are sorry to hear that you had an uncomfortable experience with our Mekong two days activities. Please find our response as to what you were not comfortable with from our Mekong Experience: 1. Guests Miranda: Guests were uncomfortable with our notice if they could reschedule their travel date to join our tour as their travel date with us ( Not enough Guests) Response from Countryside Adventures: 1. Travellers before their booking our Tours, please read our policy of the minimum number of guests for our trip departure ( Our minimum number of guests for a Trip departure is 04 GUESTS ) ONly 02 Guests ( Miranda ) booked for Two Days in Mekong by Bikes and Boat. That is why We( Countryside Adventures) informed them a few days before the trip departure. We let them know if the number of guests does not meet, then they can choose to take a trip with extra fees for two people is 70USD. At Countryside Adventures we offer Experiences and thus anyone can join in our activities ( We close Two hours prior to Trip departure) Luckily, the day before Miranda's trip, we had some guests booked for the Mekong by Bikes, Boat, and Kayak, We then inform them we had some guest join in for Day trip plus kayaking and asked them if they would prefer to enjoy kayak together with the other guests ( If not they can enjoy the boat trip only) Please note: We are offering Experiences, thus we would like our guests to enjoy as many activities as they could ( if they were not happy with some additional activities we had told them about earlier, then they could cancel the booking and get a refund) The second day back to the City by public transportation: We had clear this information in our policy( What Travellers need to know before their booking) If the number of guests is less than 04 people, then they will take public transportation from Mekong Delta to Ho Chi Minh City on the second day. Many of our guests took this transportation and all were happy with our services. Please read reviews from the rest of other travellers. 3. Countryside Road conditions: Please note, the cycling tour is an outdoor activity that allows you to experience the local life and you should be aware of road conditions are varies. Why this scores 65
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Adventure awaits – Two days Mekong Outdoor Activities.: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Ho Chi Minh City.
How much does Adventure awaits – Two days Mekong Outdoor Activities. cost?
+
Prices start at $297 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Ho Chi Minh City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Adventure awaits – Two days Mekong Outdoor Activities. take?
+
Plan for about 48 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Ho Chi Minh City is not rushed.
Is Adventure awaits – Two days Mekong Outdoor Activities. worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 14 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Ho Chi Minh City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Adventure awaits – Two days Mekong Outdoor Activities.?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Adventure awaits – Two days Mekong Outdoor Activities. suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 48-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Adventure awaits – Two days Mekong Outdoor Activities.?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Ho Chi Minh City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Ho Chi Minh City and add a light layer if any part of the 48-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Adventure awaits – Two days Mekong Outdoor Activities. start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Ho Chi Minh City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Ho Chi Minh City?
+
On Outty we rank every Ho Chi Minh City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Adventure Cu Chi Tunnels and Mekong Delta Tour From HCM, Cu Chi Tunnels Small-Group Tour: Vietnam War Underground Network, Cu Chi underground tour - Learn Vietnam war with others. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Ho Chi Minh City?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Ho Chi Minh City?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
