I saw and learned lots!
This was the 2nd time I’ve done this tour. I did it 9 years ago and got a lot out of it. The tour was in 2 parts. The first was of central Athens including Syntagma, central Athens including the gardens. Despina led the tour and she’s quite a character. Interesting historical and political perspectives. I learned a lot. The Acropolis tour was run by Hermes’ who was engaging, knowledgeable and had a lovely dry wit. He led us up the Acropolis gently as it was a hot day, explaining lots of things along the way. He too shared fascinating historical and political perspectives that I hadn’t heard about (and I have Greek heritage). This tour is a great taster into Athens. I recommend it.
Response from the operator: What a joy to read, thank you! We’re so glad you decided to join us again after all these years — that’s the best compliment we could hope for. Despina and Hermes both bring their own spark and depth to Athens’ stories, and it sounds like you experienced the city through their eyes in the best way possible. Warm regards, Athens Walking Tours Team

It's fantastic that Dimitri's deep knowledge made the tour so fun and enjoyable, and that his kindness and consideration for everyone shone through. We truly appreciate you highlighting the importance of water and good walking shoes – excellent advice for fellow travelers! Warm regards, Athens Walking Tours Team

Brilliant walking tour with the friendliest tour guide Eva!
The tour was highly educational, our tour guide Eva was outstanding! She was warm friendly and very knowledgeable. I loved the way she explained the whole story of Athens and Acropolis allowing us enough time to capture and experience the history behind it! Eva was very interactive and even treated us to the traditional Greek dessert to us, which was very touching! Eva offered to take our photos and found the experience even more special and adventurous because of the nature of her personality! I would highly recommend this tour to all who would like to make it worthwhile visiting Athens. Thank you Eva and team xxx
Response from the operator: What a fantastic review, thank you, Husna! It’s wonderful to know that Eva’s warmth, storytelling, and personal touches made your experience so memorable. A tour should feel like more than just facts, it should bring history to life, and it sounds like Eva did just that! We’re so glad you enjoyed the journey (and the sweet treat!). Wishing you more great adventures ahead! Warm regards, Athens Walking Tours Team

Disorganized, guide’s speaker system broke down due to battery issues
So-so tour. Meeting point has the dirtiest WC in Athens. Low standards, the guide was enthusiastic but disorganized. Her photos/diagrams should have been in a binder with plastic photo holders vs falling out onto the floor numerous times. We bought the tour to get tickets to the Acropolis. One ticket was for the tour time and the other was for a later window holding us up at the entry. The guides audio system broke down mid-way through the tour. She was admonished by other guides for shouting/loud voice that was competing with other tours. She wasn’t carrying spare batteries that would have fixed the problem. Wouldn’t go on another tour hosted by this company. Meh…
Response from the operator: Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re truly sorry to hear that your experience with us did not meet your expectations. We understand how frustrating it must have been to encounter issues during your tour, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused. Regarding the meeting point, we regret that the public facilities nearby were not up to standard. Unfortunately, as these are public restrooms, they are outside of our control, but we understand the impact this had on your first impression. We also appreciate your comments about the guide’s materials and audio equipment. Our guides are usually well-prepared, and we regret that technical difficulties affected your tour. We’ve already addressed this with our team to ensure spare batteries are always carried, and materials are better organized. Concerning the Acropolis tickets, we strive to streamline the process, but it seems there was an issue with the timing in your case. We’re reviewing this to prevent similar situations in the future. Your feedback helps us improve, and we hope you’ll consider giving us another chance to provide the high-quality experience we aim for. Warm regards, Athens Walking Tours Team

Why this scores 84
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Acropolis Walking Tour, Including Syntagma Square & City Center: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Athens.
How much does Acropolis Walking Tour, Including Syntagma Square & City Center cost?
+
Prices start at $16 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Athens usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Acropolis Walking Tour, Including Syntagma Square & City Center take?
+
Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Athens is not rushed.
Is Acropolis Walking Tour, Including Syntagma Square & City Center worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 84 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 404 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Athens, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Acropolis Walking Tour, Including Syntagma Square & City Center?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Acropolis Walking Tour, Including Syntagma Square & City Center suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Acropolis Walking Tour, Including Syntagma Square & City Center?
+
Around 141 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Athens can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Athens and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Acropolis Walking Tour, Including Syntagma Square & City Center start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Athens within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Athens?
+
On Outty we rank every Athens experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Athens Small Group E-Bike Tour, Small Group Greek Traditional Food Tour in Athens 20+ Tastings, Athens Scenic Bike Tour with Regular or Electric Bike + Acropolis. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Athens?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Athens?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
