Missed Activity Due to Poor Details
Seemed like a fun activity to do with friends while we were visiting in Norfolk. Activity is titled as "self-guided" so we had thought we'd be able to do it on our own. Had something come up the day we had "scheduled" it and thought it was fine and could do it the following day. Got an email the next morning telling me to review our experience. The wording on the website didn't say anything regarding the details of the scavenger hunt; if we were supposed to meet someone, just start it on our own, etc. There was a clear lack of direct instructions regarding when and how to start the activity. If buying this experience, please make sure you have the time and date of the activity reserved so you don't miss it like we did.

Fun way to see city sights
Somewhat simplistic...but a nice walk through a pretty part of the city. Didnt like the timed element. The walk is manageable and easy to follow.

Highly disappointed
It was unfortunate that we spent an hour trying to get into access the scavenger hunt and were unsuccessful even after several long phone calls. We were unable to participate in the scavenger hunt and were very disappointed in Viator’s customer service and unwillingness to offer a refund for our wasted time. We were excited to take part in the scavenger hunt but it only ended with frustration and disappointment. Definitely would not recommend purchasing tickets through viator.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I am sorry to hear about your experience, and we would like to learn more to make this right! Please contact us at support@letsroam.com. We look forward to speaking with you!

First Timer
I was a little confused on the instructions until I downloaded the app. Which helped but we kept going in circles trying to get to each check in location. It will definitely take longer than 2 hours to complete, unless you are completely familiar with the area. It was fun though. A large group would make it a lot more interesting and enjoyable.

Almost anything can be...
Almost anything can be fun if you approach it in the right spirit. The challenges were lame, and my group didn't like that we had to keep taking pictures, but we saw some sights we probably wouldn't have seen otherwise. It was a pretty good way to spend a couple of hours
Response from the operator: It is a pretty fun way to spend a couple of hours and get to know an area.. We appreciate your feedback!

Why this scores 37
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
A Spectacular Scavenger Hunt: Mystery of Norfolk: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Norfolk.
How much does A Spectacular Scavenger Hunt: Mystery of Norfolk cost?
+
Prices start at $12 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Norfolk usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does A Spectacular Scavenger Hunt: Mystery of Norfolk take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Norfolk is not rushed.
Is A Spectacular Scavenger Hunt: Mystery of Norfolk worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 37 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable outdoors in Norfolk, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule A Spectacular Scavenger Hunt: Mystery of Norfolk?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is A Spectacular Scavenger Hunt: Mystery of Norfolk suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book A Spectacular Scavenger Hunt: Mystery of Norfolk?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Norfolk can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Norfolk and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does A Spectacular Scavenger Hunt: Mystery of Norfolk start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Norfolk within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Norfolk?
+
Norfolk, VA packs its best experiences into walkable neighborhoods, local food, and day trips nearby. Outty ranks every bookable tour and activity in Norfolk by rating quality, review depth, booking demand and value, so you can see the standouts before you book. On Outty we rank every Norfolk experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include A Day Full of Fun at Virginia Living Museum, Norfolk's Combo Tickets - Virginia Zoo & Battleship Wisconsin, City Cruises Norfolk: Buffet Dinner Cruise. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Norfolk?
+
Spring and fall bring the best weather and lighter crowds in Norfolk, while summer has the widest choice of tours and evening activities. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Norfolk?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
