What you'll see and do
A morning with the elephants is an eye-opening and inspiring experience. Following a scenic drive along a local village you will arrive at Phuket Elephant Sanctuary, a picturesque jungle dotted with ponds, wide open fields and hillsides for the elephants to roam around. Your visit starts at our Tree Top Lounge, where we will show you a presentation and educational video to prepare you for your encounter with the elephants, and to help you understand why they need to be protected. We then follow them down into the jungle. By keeping a safe distance and watching them from our Observation Salas, the elephants have the freedom to express their natural behavior, from bathing and playing in our pond to socializing with each other. The program ends with a delicious Thai vegetarian meal.

Magical morning
Early start but so worth it, our guide, Ice, was very knowledgeable about the individual Elephants at the Sanctuary and was able to answer any questions the group had. A morning well spent with these wonderful creatures and to be able to support the Sanctuary is the added bonus. Only 8 people in our group, no rush just wandering around with the guide at a nice pace. All round a good day and money well spent for a wonderful experience.

Must do trip.
Had a really great morning, up close and personal with the elephants. We had a great guide, KT, who told us all about the residents and their stories. Very worthy cause. Loved every minute. Thanks.

Lovely experience
Lovely half day trip. I found it educational and uplifting to see these elephants living out the rest of their lives Roaming freely and being looked after. There was way more food provided for us than we thought.

Life is short not to have experienced this
This was a most beautiful experience being with these beautiful animals. The sanctuary is ethically caring and they look after all the retired elephants that have been used for tourist traps and work. The staff knew all of the elephants by name and history and you could tell they were there for the right reasons. Well organised with breakfast and lunch provided

Wonderful experience being so close to these beautiful beasts
This was an experience that we will remember for many years. We were collected from our resort and taken to the sanctuary in Paklok, North East Phuket. A sumptuous breakfast was on offer, but it did'nt attract us as we had eaten at our hotel. Following an informative video which detailed why these Asian elephants need protection, we were taken on a guided walking tour of the sanctuary's tropical bushland, enabling our small group to have an up close experience with these beautiful animals. There is no riding, bathing or feeding of the elephants, making it a purely observational experience, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Our tour guide was able to provide details about each elephant. Watching the elephants from the overhead canopy walkway was a bonus. Our last stop was the sanctuary's elephant hospital, Phuket's first. There we saw a suspended elephant, being treated for a broken leg, and another being given antibiotics for septicaemia. The sanctuary purchases elephants which are sick, injured or have been abused or overworked. They will never return to their previous lives. At the conclusion of the tour we were returned to our resort. We will definitely return to the Phuket Elephant Sanctuary on our next Phuket holiday.

Why this scores 90
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
A Morning with the Elephants at Phuket Elephant Sanctuary: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Phuket.
How much does A Morning with the Elephants at Phuket Elephant Sanctuary cost?
+
Prices start at $1500 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Phuket usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does A Morning with the Elephants at Phuket Elephant Sanctuary take?
+
Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Phuket is not rushed.
Is A Morning with the Elephants at Phuket Elephant Sanctuary worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 90 out of 100, which we label "90+ Club". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 1,881 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Phuket, and how flexible the cancellation terms are. Scoring 90 or above puts it in the Outty 90+ Club, the top tier of everything we rank.
Can I cancel or reschedule A Morning with the Elephants at Phuket Elephant Sanctuary?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is A Morning with the Elephants at Phuket Elephant Sanctuary suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book A Morning with the Elephants at Phuket Elephant Sanctuary?
+
Around 658 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Phuket can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Phuket and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does A Morning with the Elephants at Phuket Elephant Sanctuary start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Phuket within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Phuket?
+
On Outty we rank every Phuket experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Southern Flavors Phuket Food Tour with 15+ Tastings, James Bond Island by Big Boat w/ Sea Cave Canoeing and Lunch, Phang Nga Bay Canoeing & James Bond Island Tour from Phuket. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Phuket?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Phuket?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
