A Journey Made Special by Wonderful People
As our 7-day Yunnan adventure came to an end, we reflected not only on the breathtaking scenery and fascinating culture but also on the incredible people who made this journey so memorable through the travel agency Wonders of Yunnan. Travel is about more than visiting beautiful places—it is about the stories, the connections and the people who bring each destination to life. We were fortunate to be guided by an outstanding team throughout our trip. * Vivian in Kunming, who introduced us to the beauty and history of the “City of Eternal Spring.” * Linda in Dali, who brought the traditions of the Bai people and the charm of Erhai Lake to life (cycling & tie dye). * Paldor in Shangri-La, whose insights into Tibetan culture, Buddhism and local life made our visit especially meaningful (zipline). * Snow in Lijiang, who guided Us through the fascinating history of the Naxi people, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (+show) and Lijiang’s ancient heritage. Their excellent English made communication effortless, and each of them shared their passion, knowledge and local traditions with enthusiasm. Whether explaining centuries-old history, introducing local customs or answering our endless questions, they made every destination far more meaningful than we could have experienced on our own. A special mention also goes to our driver, Jing (23 years), who safely navigated the winding mountain roads, busy cities and high mountain passes with remarkable skill and patience. No matter how long the journey or how challenging the roads, we always felt comfortable and completely at ease. A special thank you to Katherine for all the work she put into planning our 7-day Yunnan itinerary. She was patient and flexible, happily accommodating the changes we wanted to make to create the perfect trip for our family. She also arranged our first-class high-speed train tickets and VIP seats for the Impression Lijiang show, making our journey even more comfortable and enjoyable. What impressed us most was Katherine’s dedication to customer service. Throughout our trip, she stayed in contact with us via WhatsApp, often replying late into the evening whenever we had questions. It was reassuring to know that help was always just a message away. One situation stood out in particular. Two days before our visit to Tiger Leaping Gorge, a landslide caused the Shangri-La entrance to close. Naturally, we were concerned about whether we would still be able to visit this famous landmark. Katherine immediately coordinated with the local team, and together with our guide Snow in Lijiang, they kept us informed and adjusted the plans seamlessly. Thanks to their quick communication and excellent organisation, we were still able to visit the gorge safely via the Lijiang side, without any stress or confusion. Their professionalism, prompt communication and genuine care for their guests gave us complete confidence throughout our holiday. We are truly grateful to Katherine, our guides, and the entire Wonders of Yunnan team for making this such a memorable and worry-free experience. We would not hesitate to travel with them again in the future.

A Perfect Yunnan Trip
This was our first time in Yunnan, so we chose the classic 8-day itinerary—and it turned out to be a great decision. We visited Kunming, Dali, Lijiang, and Shangri-La, but the pace never felt rushed. Thanks to our travel advisor for the thoughtful planning. I especially loved Green Lake Park in Kunming—it has a classic Chinese garden feel. Dali was very relaxing, whether wandering around Xizhou or experiencing local life in Zhoucheng. Lijiang Old Town was lively but not overwhelming. Tiger Leaping Gorge was something photos simply can’t capture—you have to see it in person. Shangri-La felt completely different, with a calm and vast atmosphere. The whole trip was amazing, and I honestly didn’t want it to end. I’d love to come back and explore more.

Excellent trip with family and friends
Since my 1st contact with WOY, I was impressed with the professionalism and the promptness of their feedback. Zoie has been wonderful travel consultant. Our group of 10pax consisting our elderly parents and friends from another country, have been sending many enquiries which she patiently addressed and took care of prior to our trip. The accommodations arranged were lovely boutique hotels at strategic locations. Our trip was enjoyable despite the daily rain this season, thanks to our guides Vicky, Brandon, Vivien, driver Ma and Shirley. Thanks!
Response from the operator: Hi Weiling, Thanks a lot for your positive review message! It was nice getting to meet you in your hotel in Kunming. We are all very happy that you enjoyed the trip in Yunnan and thank you again for having chosen travelling us. All the best from still rainy Yunnan, Zoie

One of my best trips!!!
Everything was just perfect and exellent organised from the first contact with Wonders of Yunnan. Many many many thanks especially to Christy (organiser), Sissy (tourguide), Mr Wang (driver) and Amy (tourguide in Shangri la). I booked a customised private 8-days tour Kunming - Stone Forest - Yuanyang - Bada and Laohuzui Rice Terraces - Dali - Lijiang - Shangri la. In between I visited many villages, local markets and scenic nature sites. My tour guides and driver were lovely, spoke excellent language and taught me a lot about the local history and culture. Every single day during my tour was a highlight including the amazing food experience as well as every single accommodation. I would strogly recommend Wonders of Yunnan and would book a tour with the agency anytime again!!!
Response from the operator: Dear Karina: Thanks a lot for the detailed review as well as your trust and high approval of our work and company! Your tour guide, the driver and of course also me are very happy that you enjoyed the tour. We would be happy providing our services to you once more in future and are looking forward to welcoming you in Yunnan again! All the best from Kunming, Christy

8 Days Classic Tour of Yunnan: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kunming.
How much does 8 Days Classic Tour of Yunnan cost?
+
Prices start at $1,800 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kunming usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 8 Days Classic Tour of Yunnan take?
+
Plan for about 192 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kunming is not rushed.
Is 8 Days Classic Tour of Yunnan worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Kunming, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule 8 Days Classic Tour of Yunnan?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is 8 Days Classic Tour of Yunnan suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 192-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book 8 Days Classic Tour of Yunnan?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kunming can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kunming and add a light layer if any part of the 192-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does 8 Days Classic Tour of Yunnan start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kunming within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Kunming?
+
On Outty we rank every Kunming experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Stone Forest + Yiliang Roast Duck + Kunming City Private Tour, Kunming: Walking Tour Around Green Lake and University Quarter, 8 Days Private Yunnan Highlight Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Kunming?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Kunming?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
