Two 37ft catamaran private tours (5 stars and 3 stars respectively)

Booked two 37ft catamaran 7hr private tours on the same day for a group of 13 people and then another group of 12 people. These boats were all inclusive (open bars and open bar and buffet on Isla Mujeres). Booking process: Communicated with Jose through WhatsApp after initially inquiring through GetMyBoat. Jose was wonderful to communicate with throughout the whole process and was very responsive. He helped coordinate transfer to and from resort for both groups. Paid 30% deposit at the time of booking and then paid the full remainder of price 10 days before departure using PayPal. Our group was a little concerned about paying the full amount up front but Jose was great and everything was very secure. Boat 1 (9:45am - 4:45pm) rating 5/5 stars: The group of 13 had a wonderful time on the boat and the crew was wonderful! We snorkeled, sailed and then spent about 1.5-2hrs on Isla Mujeres for buffet lunch then sailed back to marina. Most of the time was spent on boat and again the crew was absolutely wonderful and made our experience so memorable! The only issue is when we got to marina in morning to check in, the person collecting dock fee said we owed $900 instead of just the $20 per person dock fee. I explained we already paid in full and then there was no issue and they just took the dock fee money and we were on our way. Boat 2 (11:30am - 6:30pm) rating 3/5 stars: This was the group of 12 which my husband was helping to coordinate. They went snorkeling and then the crew advised them they could do a tequila tasting on the island so the group didn’t oppose. They were then dropped off on the Isla Mujeres (completely different location than our boat) at about 1-1:30pm and were told the boat would return and pick them up at 5:40pm and then the boat left them. They ate lunch and they were told they had to pay an extra $120 USD if they wanted to have the open bar available to them after 3:10pm… so of course they paid because the boat was not retuning to pick them up until 5:40pm. This was incredibly frustrating because everything was supposed to be included and at the time my husband didn’t realize he could tell the boat crew to come back sooner or message Jose at this time. My husband also gave the experience a good rating at the end of their trip because it was only after talking together the next day that we discovered how vastly different our two experiences were. After discussing with my husband the next day I was annoyed to learn that they paid extra money for a trip that was supposed to be all included and that they spent more time on land as opposed to the catamaran. I messaged Jose to attempt to find out what happened and get their money back, however after looking into it Jose was unable to get a refund but did offer to compensate us if we were ever back in Mexico and wanted to use their services again and was apologetic. Jose did make it clear that the passengers are the ones who dictate what their experience is and while that was certainly the experience of boat 1, I don’t think that was conveyed in the same way to our second boat and they just listened to the crew. So for anyone who books with this service just know that you may have to advocate for your group and that if you just listen to the crew you may end up getting taken advantage of/paying extra for things that should be included. My husband’s group did enjoy their trip overall but in hindsight wished they spent more time on the actual boat and didn’t pay extra for drinks. Overall though, both groups enjoyed the catamarans and would go again but will just be more communicative with the crew. Jose was great to communicate with and seemed very genuine in trying to ensure we had a very positive experience, so would recommend to others!

A must do experience if you like ocean adventure

Our family has never been to Cancun and we wanted to get the best experience off resort possible without breaking the bank. This trip is undervalued IMO and could be double the cost and it would still be worth it. The crew was incredibly friendly and helpful. They constantly made sure everyone was taken care of and even spoke multiple languages (English/Spanish) depending on where the customers were from. We highly recommend paying extra for the golf cart adventure on the island (Isla Mujeres). The lunch buffet at the island was simple but delicious and just the right amount of food to keep us fueled for the trip. The snorkeling at the reef was a lot of fun too. We saw squid, stingrays, a variety of colourful fish and some interesting underwater statues. Our favorite parts of the trip were the amazing staff, the warm blue Carribean ocean swimming, the golf cart adventure and the incredible sunset sail back to Cancun. I was happy to be on a proper 47' sailing catamaran as we love sailing as a family. They also don't cheap out on the drinks... at all, if you're a boozer you'll be topped up before your cup is empty. We really don't have much to complain about on this trip. Thank you for the amazing experience guys 🙏😁 PS the onboard photographer killed it 📸 (an extra charge if you want to keep the photos but worth it). Honorable mentions: Mr Brazil is was a legend 💪

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your amazing and detailed review! We’re truly happy to hear that your first visit to Cancun included such a memorable experience with us—it means a lot to be part of that. It’s fantastic to know that you felt the trip delivered great value and that our crew made such a positive impression. We’ll be sure to pass along your kind words to the entire team—and especially to Mr. Brazil, he’ll love the shoutout! We’re glad you enjoyed every part of the adventure, from snorkeling and exploring Isla Mujeres by golf cart, to relaxing in the beautiful Caribbean waters and sailing back at sunset. And of course, keeping the drinks flowing is all part of the fun! Thank you as well for mentioning the onboard photographer—those memories are truly special to take home. We really appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you and your family back onboard for another unforgettable day at sea!

7hrs / 46ft Catamaran Private Charter From Cancun to Isla Mujeres: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cancun.

How much does 7hrs / 46ft Catamaran Private Charter From Cancun to Isla Mujeres cost?

    +

Prices start at $2290 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cancun usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 7hrs / 46ft Catamaran Private Charter From Cancun to Isla Mujeres take?

    +

Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cancun is not rushed.

Is 7hrs / 46ft Catamaran Private Charter From Cancun to Isla Mujeres worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 17 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cancun, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 7hrs / 46ft Catamaran Private Charter From Cancun to Isla Mujeres?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is 7hrs / 46ft Catamaran Private Charter From Cancun to Isla Mujeres suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book 7hrs / 46ft Catamaran Private Charter From Cancun to Isla Mujeres?

    +

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cancun can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cancun and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 7hrs / 46ft Catamaran Private Charter From Cancun to Isla Mujeres start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cancun within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cancun?

    +

On Outty we rank every Cancun experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Early Access to Chichen Itza All Inclusive with Valladolid and Cenote Swim, Whale Shark Tour from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Riviera Maya, Small-Group 3 Hidden Cenotes Adventure with Tequila Tasting. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cancun?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cancun?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
