Perfect tour for long stop in PEK airport

Fantastic tour, with perfect organization. Jessica (tour guide) was extremely helpful, meet her out of Arrivals gate, car and driver service very precise. All tour and experience was great... after this tour we decided to book a second one for GREAT WALL and PALACE OF HEAVEN. Thanks Jessica and Tony.

Response from the operator: Thanks for your feedback and share your experience in Beijing. Welcome to Beijing again :-)

    Great tours and people

We had 2 tours with the first a layover tour to the Mutianyu part of the Great Wall. Tony our host was on time and a very good guide. No trouble to show us where to go and how to do it. Very easy and plenty of time to be take in the wall and back to airport. Because Tony was so good we organised a day trip on our return leg to take in the 4 sites we wanted to do in Beijing. Jessica was fantastic on a very hot day.Driven to all the sites by a very good driver.Loads learnt and very organised through all the entrances. A great authentic peking duck lunch from a local place. Thoroughly recommend this tour as we would not have got to see it all on our own.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the time to share your wonderful experience with us! We’re delighted to hear that both of your tours were such a success. It’s great to know that Tony made your layover tour to the Mutianyu Great Wall smooth and stress-free, giving you plenty of time to enjoy one of China's most iconic landmarks before your flight. We’re especially honored that your positive experience inspired you to book a second tour with us on your return journey. Jessica will be thrilled to hear your kind words, and we're glad she, together with our driver, helped you explore Beijing’s highlights comfortably, even on such a hot day. We’re also happy you enjoyed the authentic Peking duck lunch—it's always one of our favorite local experiences to share with our guests! Thank you for recommending our tours. It was a pleasure showing you both the Great Wall and the best of Beijing, and we hope to welcome you back again for another adventure in China someday. Safe travels and best wishes!

    Best short tour option!

This was a great option! Tony made the process very easy from the start, he even helped explain the process for the visa. Our tour guide was amazing, Jessica was right on time at the agreed place. She was very good with the explanations and she was very knowledgeable about the places we were visiting. She also made everything to make our tour as memorable as possible, even sugesting great photo poses and locations. She also took us to a delicious local place for lunch. I recommend this tour to anyone that has a long layover in Beijing.

6-7 Hours Beijing Summer Palace and Forbidden City Layover Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Beijing.

How much does 6-7 Hours Beijing Summer Palace and Forbidden City Layover Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $55 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Beijing usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 6-7 Hours Beijing Summer Palace and Forbidden City Layover Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Beijing is not rushed.

Is 6-7 Hours Beijing Summer Palace and Forbidden City Layover Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Beijing, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 6-7 Hours Beijing Summer Palace and Forbidden City Layover Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is 6-7 Hours Beijing Summer Palace and Forbidden City Layover Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book 6-7 Hours Beijing Summer Palace and Forbidden City Layover Tour?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Beijing can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Beijing and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 6-7 Hours Beijing Summer Palace and Forbidden City Layover Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Beijing within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Beijing?

    +

On Outty we rank every Beijing experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Mubus: Mutianyu Great Wall Bus Tour with Summer Palace Options, Beijing: Top 6 Highlights All Inclusive 2-Day Private Tour, Private Mutianyu Great Wall Trip With English-Speaking Driver. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Beijing?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Beijing?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
