HOLIDAYS IN MADRID AND ANDALUSIA

We book this tour ahead of time and immediately the manager contacted us to let us know the driver name and information, also the kind of clothes to wear and the weather expected. This give us a good feeling and decided to book another tour to visit Avila and Segovia. All went smoothly and we see a lot of monuments, the driver took suggest the route to avoid meeting the touristic buses and been able to see Toledo monuments more relax, also went to the hill nearby to have a panoramic and we stop in a higher point to been able to take photos alone. The drive to Toledo was comfortable and quick and Joan (our driver) meet all the expectations. We ends up doing two more tours with him the same week!

Response from the operator: Thank you very much for the review.

Excellent tour and plenty of hidden gems!

My boyfriend and me booked this tour and it was the best tour we have ever had! Completely personalised and tailor made to suit our needs and interests. Andres was our driver and his English is excellent. He went above and beyond to show us the most interesting places in Toledo, as well as hidden gems that we would have never found on our own. He has lots of interesting stories to tell and was very pleasant to spend the day with. He gave us great recommendations for restaurants off the beaten track and helped us to avoid tourist traps. Highly recommended if you want a special and very unique day tour from Madrid!

Response from the operator: Dear Laura, thank you very much for the comments, hope you had a great time with us and enjoyed the tour.

Overpriced "tour" - you get a driver for the day, not a guide

In August 2018, we booked the Toledo 8 hour private tour with this company for $925 for four people. What we received was nowhere near worth the cost. We felt VERY RIPPED OFF so we will post a review describing our experience. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. He was very nice, and he spoke English well. He had a lot of information about all areas we were in, which was very helpful and appreciated. However, we felt that he took too way too many opportunities to take a break and leave us alone to explore sites. He would walk us to a location, and then tell us to go by ourselves, which we did not like and did not appreciate. We were paying for a full day private tour with a guide, not for a driver. For example, on the way to Toledo, we told our guide we'd like to see the Jewish Quarter and if there is a synagogue, we'd like to visit. When we got there, he walked us to the first synagogue, and told us to go inside ourselves and look around, that it would take about 30 minutes. He did not offer to go in with us and did not go in. I was unsure if he would have to pay to enter and that was why he was staying back, so I did not push the issue. We toured that synagogue for about 30 minutes, then he walked us to the next one. While walking between sites, he did give commentary and information on the areas. However, when we got to the 2nd synagogue, which was also a museum, he again left us alone and said it would take about 45 minutes. He did not go in with us to this site, either. There was no one in either site doing tours, so we had to walk ourselves, or buy the audio guide. We spent 45 minutes there and came out to meet Our guide. He then told us he would walk us to a place for lunch, and after lunch we should go to the cathedral, and then have free time to shop on our own. He brought us to the restaurant and it was 1:15 pm. He told us he'd meet us at 4:45 pm. We were very, very surprised that he left us for another 3 1/2 hours on our own. We did not even enter the cathedral, as it would have cost close to 40 Euros for the four of us, and without a guide, we felt that was not worthwhile. On the way back to Madrid, because I felt we didn't really get much out of this and because we left Toledo early (around 4:30), we asked him to drive us to some sites in the city. He said he'd go through a nicer area of town, and then to the bull ring. When we got to the bull ring, he described it, then told us we could walk around there on our own and take pictures, which we did. Again, we were paying for a tour and guide, which is what was described on Viator. But this “guide” was leaving us to do a lot on our own. In fact, between the two synagogues, lunch, the cathedral, and shopping, we were without our guide for 4 hours 45 minutes of our 8 hour tour. Over half of the time. I felt that we were taken advantage of and did not get what we paid for. We emailed In & Out Tours Madrid to let them know we were unhappy. They responded that the description of the tour may have led us to believe we should have a full day guide, but that it was a mistake that he'll correct for the future. No offer to compensate us for an overpriced driver for the day. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS TOUR OR THIS COMPANY.

Response from the operator: Dear Mr. Michael, Once again thank you for your feedback, it helps us to improve our services. As mentioned in the mail we sent you, the description of driver/guide must have led you to think there was a tour guide with you all day, but to clarify this, the description and information of the tour itself was very clear there was no licensed tour guide included and that the driver will take you to the places you choose to see and explain you what is about. Your driver/guide fulfill his duties during the tour as you mentioned perfectly in your comments above "Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. He was very nice, and he spoke English well. He had a lot of information about all areas we were in, which was very helpful and appreciated." As a private tour he showed you the locations you was interested in (that´s why you pay more for a private tour than for a group tour with more tourists). We wish you had taken the chance to inform us during the tour about your disappointment so we could have done something. Best regards,

Full day of great history and more....

Magnificent experience. This was our best guided tour. I mean, we were really guided person-to-person throughout the whole Toledo city with all the history and details of everything. We had time to see all the main attractions, had la very nice lunch, and actually walk a lot through the beautiful historic city.

Response from the operator: Dear customer, Thank you for your review, hope you had a great time and see you again soon.

5-Hour Toledo Half-Day Tour from Madrid: Uncover Medieval Magic: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Madrid.

How much does 5-Hour Toledo Half-Day Tour from Madrid: Uncover Medieval Magic cost?

+

Prices start at $92 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Madrid usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 5-Hour Toledo Half-Day Tour from Madrid: Uncover Medieval Magic take?

+

Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Madrid is not rushed.

Is 5-Hour Toledo Half-Day Tour from Madrid: Uncover Medieval Magic worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.2/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Madrid, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 5-Hour Toledo Half-Day Tour from Madrid: Uncover Medieval Magic?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is 5-Hour Toledo Half-Day Tour from Madrid: Uncover Medieval Magic suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 1. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 5-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book 5-Hour Toledo Half-Day Tour from Madrid: Uncover Medieval Magic?

+

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Madrid can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Madrid and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 5-Hour Toledo Half-Day Tour from Madrid: Uncover Medieval Magic start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Madrid within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Madrid?

+

On Outty we rank every Madrid experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Madrid Essential: Historic Center, Plaza Mayor & Royal Palace, Madrid Walking Tour from Puerta del Sol to Retiro Park, Madrid Oscuro: Torture, Ghosts, Crimes and Legends. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Madrid?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Madrid?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
