The experience was great....
The experience was great. The boat was older and worn but it worked well. Our attendant was awesome even shared his contact should we have an issue
via Viator
Disappointed overall
Our boat had fuel line issues that kept stalling. Depth finder broken. 70 HP engine to small for boat. Should include bag of ice and waters with cost of rental. No help with where to go / visit when inquired. Just said the two directions but no destinations

Highly recommend!!! We had a group of 5 girls and we had a blast! The staff was courteous and fun. Joe was very helpful and professional when explaining where to go and not to. All in all very Happy!

Great family fun
Had a fantastic time with the family. First time on a pontoon boat. All of the folks from check-in to dockside were fantastic!

Broken down barnacle
The water is always a spectacular abundance of sea life and beauty but this boat should be sunk like the Titanic. We were told that our pontoon boat was a new vessel. We had four adults and 4 children ages 6, 5 and two 3 year olds. Plenty of room although the front gate of the boat was broken off and clearly not replaced for safety!!! The usb port was rusted shut, so I guess if anyone had fallen off and lets say that our phone battery was low from all picture taking.........we'd be "sunk". The fuel gauge was not working and on permanent empty.....again a huge safety red flag! There was also a huge rip on the side of the front couch/lounger which was of course minor compared to all the safety ailments of this truly broken down barnacle. The Tripadvisor price was enticing but save yourselves and your family from an aweful accident waiting to happen.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback. The boat that you rented is in two years of operation so it is a fairly new rental boat. We do have more on the way, but with COVID, deliveries have been delayed. I feel that these safety concerns were addressed throughout the orientation. We do not advertise phone chargers, we are sorry for the unfortunate circumstances with your phone. The gate was broken off on a previous rental and we apologize if it was not put back in a proper fashion for your rental. In orientation our staff lets the renters know that fuel is topped off after every rental, so you always go out with a full tank of gas. We have rentals in the 8-10 hour with sufficient fuel so there should never be a fear of running out of fuel. I do not think our rental boat justifies a broken down barnacle, as it is a $28,000.00 boat that is 2 years old. As I stated before, we appreciate your feedback and taking the time to write a review. We wouldn't send guests out on a boat that wasn't safe. We would love to have you back to get the full experience.

Why this scores 55
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
5-Hour Private Hilton Head Pontoon Boat Rental: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Hilton Head Island.
How much does 5-Hour Private Hilton Head Pontoon Boat Rental cost?
+
Prices start at $636 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Hilton Head Island usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 5-Hour Private Hilton Head Pontoon Boat Rental take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Hilton Head Island is not rushed.
Is 5-Hour Private Hilton Head Pontoon Boat Rental worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 11 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Hilton Head Island, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule 5-Hour Private Hilton Head Pontoon Boat Rental?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is 5-Hour Private Hilton Head Pontoon Boat Rental suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book 5-Hour Private Hilton Head Pontoon Boat Rental?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hilton Head Island can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hilton Head Island and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does 5-Hour Private Hilton Head Pontoon Boat Rental start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Hilton Head Island within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Hilton Head Island?
+
Hilton Head sells dolphin and sunset cruises out of Broad Creek, kayak and boat trips through Lowcountry salt marsh, bike rentals for the island trail network and shrimping demonstrations. On Outty we rank every Hilton Head Island experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include 2-Hour Hilton Head Guided Kayak Nature Tour, Hilton Head Island Dolphin Boat Cruise, Daufuskie Island Guided History Tour from Hilton Head. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Hilton Head Island?
+
March to May and September to November, warm without peak summer crowds. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Hilton Head Island?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
